Nestled in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, Fraoch Lodge is a family run B&B and hostel with a real home away from home feel.

Think cosy fires, a big farmhouse table, delicious home cooked meals and a warm Highland welcome.

Your host, Rebecca, loves nothing more than bringing people together over good food, often using homegrown vegetables and herbs straight from the garden.

And for our Highland Yarn Retreats, she’s planning something extra special, including a cosy Outlander themed dinner! 🧶

An autumn family break in the Cairngorms: what to do when the weather changes

October in the Cairngorms doesn't follow a timetable, and conditions can vary enormously from one year to the next....

Good news for all our visitors

Good news from the Cairngorms - significant areas of the Glenmore corridor exclusion zone have been opened as of today. 
 
Access is now available to Lochan Uaine, Bynack Mor and also the full circuit over Meall a Bhuachaille via Ryvoan bothy. 
 
Some closures remain in place for public safety (see areas shaded red on the map). This is due to unstable trees and to allow recovery operations, including tree felling and path repairs.
 
Please:
✅ Follow all signage on the ground
✅ Listen to guidance from rangers and staff working in the area
✅ Check the interactive map before you head out for current open/closed routes and the full exclusion zone
 
These zones exist to keep you safe, we thank you for respecting them.

To celebrate one year, we are holding a Meet the Maker open day this Saturday 3rd October! Completely free open day for all to come along and meet some of the faces behind our beautiful pieces in the shop. Learn their stories and their inspirations.

We have a full day of makers coming along. Including Anne from plaid_in_scotland, Gaynor from Thumbles Speyside, Rhoda Bain with felting, Bev from Thistle Crafts, and Julie with some spin samples.

🧶A day of getting together, learning, chatting, crafting, browsing, and connecting. We cannot wait - come along and support amazing creators.

No need to book just turn up when suits and enjoy!
