For those of you visiting the area with young people in your group, don't worry there are lots of different ways for the kids to be occupied inside. Not only is there a room full of toys, but there are plenty of games, jigsaws through to a small kids table for those quieter moments of painting/drawing or colouring in.

You will even find a few activity books about nature to help entertain the kids looking out the windows, or on the drier days, for hunting around the garden and fields

It has been a while since we shared some internal photo's, so here is the double bedroom upstairs. It has a lovely view out over the area and on a clear day you can see up to Cairngorm and even some of the hills in Aberdeenshire. We are slightly biased but we do also love the window seats in the bedroom.

Some of you may not have seen but there is now a Cairngorm National Park Fire Law Management bylaw is in place. This is specifically from now until 30th September and means it is an offence to light a fire, this includes disposable BBQ's. Just so you are aware the rules mean fines are applicable if this happens. Sadly we have to report that earlier this year some guests staying at the cottage did have a small fire at ours. Although it was before the bylaw period of April, we kindly request that no fires are lit on our land no matter the time of year. There is a gas BBQ should you wish to cook outside and there is a wood burning stove inside.

We will repeat this message monthly as the ground is very dry, despite recent rainfall, and as some of you will be aware there has already been a fire or two in the area this year, so please be careful and considerate when visiting the countryside this summer.

As mentioned at the beginning of the year, throughout this year we are going to share each month a photo from a calendar which has been put together by and supported by the Rotary of Aboyne and Upper Deeside. Torin is an 18yr old photographer who lost his brother through su***de in 2020. Through the sale of his calendars he raises money for SAMH - North East Su***de Prevention in the hope he can help others and preventing families from experiencing the pain he went through. He won the amazing accolade from the Rotary Great Britain and Ireland , the Young Citizens Award 2025 for his achievements and we wish to support his work by sharing the photo relevant to each month from his calendar.

This photo is the turning of the tide, Big Sand Beach, Gairloch for June 2026 with the quote

'kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless." - Mother Teresa

You will find the full calendar on display in the cottage.

Obviously Torin's original photo's are better than the ones we have taken of his, but here is June. If you wish to support the cause please visit his page https://www.justgiving.com/page/torin-liversedge?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL

We keep saying this and sharing sunsets, but two are never the same. You can't tire of this view, especially when sitting at one of the window seats. Share us your favourite views.

Just a wee reminder of our outside seating area at the back of the cottage. Plenty of comfy cushions in the storage box and inside plastic plates, cutlery and glasses. Just out of shot is our 'sitooterie'. This hut seats 8 and is great for getting into the shade or when the evenings are coole. We have also already had the gas BBQ out this season, so here is to some more warmer days during the summer.

Great opportunity if you wish to visit between 3-24th June.
