Nansledan uses locally sourced building materials like Cornish slate, stone and granite.

This reduces the amount of embedded carbon in new homes, supports the Cornish economy and keeps traditional trades alive.

Stone from on Bodmin Moor is being used to construct the bridge over Chapel Stream, shown in the photos, as well as granite for kerb stones and cobbles.

Where possible materials come first from Cornwall and if not then the south west of England, UK or Europe.

Peter James, Project Manager for the Duchy of Cornwall, introducing Chapel Bridge Nansledan.

Two new bridges were commissioned by the Duchy of Cornwall to create part of the Newquay Strategic Route, which will connect the A392 at the Hendra Roundabout to Nansledan. This is due to open this summer.

The externals of both bridges are made entirely of De Lank Granite.
