As the witching hour approaches, our front door shall creak open at 5pm, inviting all little ghouls, witches, wizards, ghosts, and other ghastly visitors to join us for some trick-or-treating fun.

When you come up with a brilliant idea but are totally clueless on how to execute it, you might just turn to the local butcher for some guidance.

Keen to spice up the classic pork belly dish, which is a menu staple, I decided to go for a rolled and stuffed joint.

So, off I trotted with a couple of black puddings and a pork belly for a little hands-on lesson. Oh with a pint of our new Hawkstone session lager as a thank you.

Butchery is quite the art, especially when dealing with someone like me who tends to be kackhanded!

We gave it a shot, and I picked up a few valuable lessons for next time!

Greetings September! The essence of autumn is unmistakably upon us. We are delighted to introduce several new dishes to our menu. What could be more emblematic of autumn than our slow-cooked meat, transitioning from summer to fall.

Allow us to present our glazed shin of beef.

This exquisite dish is slow-cooked in rich red wine, accompanied by velvety garlic mash, tender buttery savoy cabbage, and a delightful sourdough bone marrow crumb, all enhanced by a luscious red wine gravy.

Business continues as normal.

As some of you may have observed, scaffolding has been erected around The Thatch. This is due to the team from Heart of England Master Thatchers who are currently re-thatching the roof. As indicated on the sign, we remain open as usual (see below).

With this in mind, I kindly request that everyone utilize the back main car park and exercise caution when using the front door, as there is a lot of activity taking place.

The workers are not being impolite; if they don't hear you, it's because they are high up and it's quite windy, plus they have a radio playing. It's fascinating to witness such craftsmanship.

I will attempt to provide photo updates when possible!
