Sage has been caught in a Google review (it was another 5 star review 💁🏽‍♀️) sharing a snog with one of our guests, Rufus.

Bad enough, you might think....

RUFUS LOOKS SUSPICIOUSLY LIKE JET.

Apparently Sage has a type....

Jet has not yet been informed of the betrayal. Rufus has checked out. Sage appears to have absolutely no remorse.

The weather finally cooled down a little today, so I took advantage of a spare couple of hours and took Jet and Sage to The Dog Park at Three Legged Cross. 🐾

I knew there would be plenty of shade and water for them to cool off in.

What I didn’t expect was Jet to get into the water, lie down… and stay there for almost an hour. 😂

I’ve just realised something and frankly I’m quite upset about it.

We have 10 rooms.

We accept up to 4 dogs per room.

Which means, theoretically, I could have 40 dogs staying in my house at the same time.

FORTY.

In all these years, this has never happened.

Not once.

I feel like we’re all collectively failing to reach the full potential of this establishment.

Anyway, here’s Gracie from this weekend in her dressing gown, looking like she’s just had a difficult morning at the spa.

Dog Weekends start in October.

I’m just saying… there are 40 spaces to fill each weekend.....🤷🏼‍♀️

UPDATE from this morning 💚

I’m pleased to report that we are still pigeon free 😂

But much more importantly, I’ve just had the loveliest update about Lady, the beautiful dog who was struck by a car outside The Ashleigh this morning.

Her owners have just popped back round to let me know that she’s been checked over by the vet and, incredibly, she’s got away with just a cut paw 🐾

They also brought me this enormous box of chocolates to say thank you, which was completely unnecessary but VERY gratefully received after the morning I’ve had 😂

So Lady is okay, there are no pigeons currently inside the building, and I have Milk Tray.

The day has officially improved considerably 😂

Well… it’s been a morning at The Ashleigh 🫠

First, a guest propped the front door open while loading their car and a PIGEON flew into the B&B.

For anyone who doesn’t know me, I am absolutely petrified of birds. So that was an excellent start to the day 😂 Carly to the rescue!

Then, not long afterwards, I heard the unmistakable sound of a dog crying in pain outside and ran straight out.

A beautiful girl called Lady had been hit by a car. Thankfully, she seems to have been incredibly lucky and escaped with just a cut paw. Her owner was understandably shaken, so I brought her, Lady and teeny tiny puppy Jax inside for a bit of calm while I checked Lady’s paw and attempted to clean her up 🐕

We keep a pet first aid kit here for guests to use if they ever need it. It’s one of those things you hope will sit there gathering dust forever, but today I was very glad we had it.

Lady left to pop to the vets for a checkover after having plenty of fuss and with a much calmer mum 💚

I, on the other hand, would quite like the rest of today to be spectacularly uneventful please. Is it too early for a drink?!

A little apology to our upcoming four legged guests 🐶

We’ve temporarily run out of our branded dog bowls!

When we ordered them, we definitely didn’t expect to get through them quite so quickly… but over 350 dogs have stayed with us in the last 10 months 😳🐾

More are already on the way, but unfortunately they won’t be here for a couple of weeks 😔

So if you’re staying with us soon, your dog will still have a bowl waiting for them, it just might not be one of our usual branded ones!

Normally our inbox consists of booking confirmations, supplier invoices and the occasional spam email promising us first...

....yesterday we got this instead 🥺

We spend a lot of time trying to keep The Ashleigh looking its best. It's not always easy when around 400 dogs a year are convinced the flower beds are there purely for their convenience... 😂🚽

Thank you to the lovely local who took the time to send this. It was a really nice surprise 💚
