Some lovely feedback to finish off the Ugly Ducklings run as a holiday let. We may be renting it out over the October Half-term for a last stint so keep your eyes peeled. Then we say goodbye at the beginning of November....

This is the last time Ugly Duckling will be available as a Holiday let and is until the end of August.

Magnolia Tree Cottage is fully booked until October and then that will finish as a Holiday let with Sykes in November and will be an Airbnb in the future!

Our little house in Bourton-on-the-Water is on the market ('the ugly duckling' on airbnb).
Across the road from the co-op, 2 minutes walk to the doctors and library and 5 minutes walk to the leisure centre and town. Perfect for a retiree who walks everywhere.
New flooring downstairs and newly painted.
It made the perfect airbnb but it's now time to move on :-)

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that we have decided to discontinue with the holiday home business. At the moment our last booking will be in October and we will then rent the property out instead.

It wasn't due to Covid as we were already planning this before it happened and after doing two tax years realised that travelling and running a holiday business isn't cost effective especially when trying to juggle 3 cleaners, a gardener, maintenance and guest requests from a far, with little signal. Using a professional company that could cover everything would have been bliss but would have left us with no profit at all. Covid in the end has just confirmed that we're making the right decision as it has been an unsettling time even though I'm sure it will recover in Bourton with no problems.

A lot of blood, sweat and tears went into renovating the property including living in a motor-home on the front garden for months and two pretty miserable Christmases which were both spent moving and living out of suitcases, led to two years running it as a successful holiday let business with a high occupancy. If we were planning to never travel again we wouldn't even be considering giving it up but as soon as you get outside help the costs obviously rocket along with the stress levels and we need to start weighing up our options for the future with not much holding us back.

So, it's now time to move on to new things and hopefully new opportunities. Isolation really does give you time to think about life and what is important and we are so happy to have had this experience and to help make memories for tourists to our beautiful Bourton-on-the-Water 🙂

For Magnolia Cottage:

From Sykes Cottages-

Effective 16th March we will be refunding any overseas customers who are not eligible to travel.

Holidays taking place up until 30th April are allowed to amend their travel dates without an amendment fee.

All Britons over 70 could be told to stay at home for an extended period to protect themselves from coronavirus. If this is put into place, we will be offering refunds and free amendments to affected customers.
