Built in 1868, our current guests dining room used to be the kitchen in this former gentleman's residence. You can see the original fireplace where the servants used to cook for the occupants of this characterful house and home.
We came to Blenheim Lodge on 4 September 2002, and since then we have revamped it whilst maintaining its original character, bearing in mind that previous owners had already made their own marks on this grand old lady. With respect to the dining room in particular, we removed its rather tired carpet and revamped it by putting up new period style wallpaper, new lighting in keeping with the building's character, and removed the tatty carpeting by replacing it with the beautiful hardwood floor you can see in this photo. Then, we bought bespoke solid wood tables and matching chairs which were upholstered to go with the walloper and new Laura Ashley curtains, thereby creating a calm and relaxing space to relish the delicious fare which we buy from local purveyors, including handcrafted sausages and bacon, farm-fresh free-range eggs, and other fare.
If you are searching for a peaceful getaway in the beautiful Lake District National park and wish to stay somewhere that is both peaceful yet within easy walking distance to local amenities and the shores of England's largest lake as well as The Dales Way Footpath upon Brantfell, the fell upon which our guest house is perched, then do check us out at www.blenheim-lodge.com or feel free to email or phone us for more details or to make a reservation. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have so that you may gauge for yourselves whether our place is a good fit for your holiday in the Lakes! 😀
