This year is the 25th anniversary of Saltaire being designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Saltaire joined the illustrious UNESCO ranks in 2001, at the same time as fellow heritage mill sites New Lanark World Heritage Site and Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, and to help mark the 25th anniversary, Saltaire Inspired will be collaborating with both sites on a creative project to mark this important milestone.
Brandi Hall-Crossgrove, Saltaire World Heritage Site Officer, said: ‘Reaching the 25th anniversary of our UNESCO World Heritage inscription is a moment of immense pride for Saltaire, and a chance to reflect on how far we’ve come.
'Working alongside New Lanark and the Derwent Valley Mills - our fellow 2001 inscriptions - highlights the shared heritage, innovation, and community spirit that bind our sites together. This anniversary gives us an opportunity not only to celebrate our collective achievements, but also to champion the creativity and collaboration that keep these historic places alive for future generations.’
We will share more detail later this year on how the creative collaboration between Saltaire Inspired, New Lanark and the Derwent Valley Mills is taking shape. We can't wait!
