There doesn’t often feel like much need to leave our tranquil valley but Yorkshire has so much to offer that it’s easy to get some quintessential seaside holiday vibes by taking a trip from base @ hewendenmillcottages.co.uk to the Yorkshire Coast. We took the opportunity to visit Anne Brontes grave near Scarborough castle on our trip. Being in the heart of Brontë country between Haworth and Thornton it seemed rude not to. PS dusty preferred sea views to amusement arcades.

Blessed as we are with stunning local walks right from the doorstep @ www.hewendenmillcottages.co.uk it’s some times nice to make the most of being so close to the Yorkshire Dales and go up a hill. Just a short 20 minute drive to the edge of the national park near Skipton is the locally iconic Flasby fell. The panoramic views from the summit trig point give the feeling of having scaled a much more challenging fell without the perspiration on a hot day! And followed by a cheeky tipple on the Devonshire arms brasserie terrace. Who needs a holiday on the med?

It’s great to be able to share our red door event space @ www.hewendenmillcottages.co.uk with the brilliantly talented and creative Anji Timlin artist www.anjitimlin.com. We are lucky to occupy such a beautiful corner of the world and even luckier to be able to share it with friends who come to enjoy it with us time and again over the years. They often compliment us by bringing their friends and family with them to experience what the valley has to offer.

Today I had a lovely reminder that we share the valley with many smaller residents so I took some time to go and have a look myself!

Time to make hay while the sun shines @ www.hewendenmillcottages.co.uk.

The meadows are having their moment in the sun while we try to get some respite by the cooling waters of the beck or shade of the woods. The sunshine is glorious especially if you’ve nowhere in particular to be.

Our valley is the perfect spot to ‘while away the hours confirin’ with some flowers’.

Even in the drizzle the verdant green of the valleys highways and byways lifts the spirits!
