Today's local business shout out goes to The View Cafe in St Helens. Gorgeous spot for breakfast with amazing pancakes, I was told the veggie breakfast was also delicious 😋😋😋😋🤩. Also on site is Goose Island Studio selling beautiful artwork and where you can paint your own pottery 🥰 (if on holiday then do this at the beginning of your stay so your piece can be fired and collected before you leave)...you could also get your tyres checked while you eat and maybe even join a gardening course 😍

The sun and warmer weather have joined us on the island, and today at the college we were lucky enough to get a visit from The Plaza Ices - 😋, their van uses solar power, they do vegan ice creams, and even have vegan whippy days (next one 1st June in Gurnard), but most importantly, Wilson and Mango were able to take a break from their day job to enjoy a doggy ice cream! 🥰

Following on from the fab initiative of The Bay Vegan Deli & Coffee House (a fab little eatery in Sandown who are featured in my info folder in The Snug) I am sharing local businesses as I find them. Today I visited Ztam & Co, a new small business in Ryde (above The Duck restaurant by canoe lake), they had very kindly offered to donate a prize for a raffle that I am hosting in aid of Friends of the Animals and I'm so glad I popped in! Loads of gorgeous gifts from lots of talented island artists, and lots of lovely little craft bits, like kits to make your own decorations with Isle of Wight sea glass. I wish then every success in their new venture! If you're looking for gifts to take home then do check them out!

Hello! Hope everyone is enjoying this amazing summer we are having so far! Not so great for the grass...maybe the Isle of Yellow is more appropriate at the moment and the wildlife is struggling too, we are leaving out water for those who can't reach up to the pond. It's also not ideal for our dogs! Thankfully The Snug stays nice and cool and there are a few nice shady spots for cool walks and swims, the beach after 5pm is just heaven! Wilson had a great time this afternoon as he found a frisby! And Mango and I had a peaceful walk through the marshes later on. This little fella had his first holiday with us! What a cutie, meet Sirius!

Of course all us dog lovers know that it is just too hot to be walking our dogs in this weather...BUT The Snug has a secret weapon! The Yar River is practically on your doorstep 🥰🥰🥰

*It takes roughly 5 minutes to walk to the river, so always use your own judgement to decide whether your dog can handle that or not, and check the temperature of the pavement before deciding. If you think it is just too hot...feel free to use the hosepipe to cool off!
