Braintree Foyer
St. Michaels Road
Braintree
ESSEX CM7 1EX
Braintree Foyer has 34 bed spaces in 10 cluster flats, with shared kitchen, toilet, and bathroom facilities. One cluster with two
rooms is specifically designed for disabled residents. We house young people in housing need between the ages of 16-25, who also require support and are motivated to seek training, education and employment. Residents live on condition of a 7 to 28 day Licence To Occupy, this is reviewed formerly before each renewal. One condition of residency is that all residents sign up to and participate in a personal support plan. This is developed through key worker sessions, which include Support Needs and Risk Assessment. Referrals
All referrals come through Braintree District Supported Housing Joint Referral Panel. The panel consists of representatives from all supported housing providers plus Braintree District Council, Connexions, Social Services and Essex Police. The panel allocates each referral to the most appropriate scheme. Joint Referral Panel application forms are available at Braintree Connexions, Braintree District Council and directly from the foyer. A unique part of the training programme at Braintree Foyer is the Passport to independent Living programme. This series of workbooks created in house allows residents to develop skills and learn the information required to manage independent living. The Passport series has developed from the generic Passport to Independent Living and now includes: ‘Passport to Health and Wellbeing’, Passport to Move on’ and the ‘Passport to Financial Independence’, which has been financially supported by Barclays Bank through their Money Skills Project. Braintree Foyer also has it’s own gym equipped with commercial quality treadmills, cross trainer, exercise bike, punch bag, multi gym and free weights area. Membership of the gym is open to foyer residents and young people from the local community once they have completed a health questionnaire and gym induction with our qualified gym instructor. Gym users are also able to book session with a trained life coach to set personal health goals.
