Let’s talk about the science behind cold water swimming…
🏊♀️ Cold water triggers a rapid “cold shock response,” releasing endorphins, dopamine and serotonin - and we can never have enough of those bad boys…
🏊♀️ Activates the metabolic system - being in cold water means the body has to work extra hard to maintain core temperature by burning up fat - all while you channel your inner mermaid 🧜♀️
🏊♀️ Being in cold water increases your circulation - flushing out all those pesky toxins and delivering all the ‘good stuff’ to your cells and organs
🏊♀️ Cold water swimming stimulates the vagus nerve helping to calm your nervous system and increase brain connectivity. Life is so much clearer in the water ✌️
That’s just a few of the many reasons to get into cold water swimming but, we’re not going to lie, there’s something about swimming with spectacular views of the hills that make it that extra special. So whether you’re a solo swimmer, social dipper or athletic sprinter if you’re up ‘our way’ don’t forget to pack your swim stuff - and don’t forget your waterproof phone pocket (pics or it didn’t happen 👀😅)
