Did you know this dramatic legendary circular walk starts from ? Whether you’re a ‘You should only go clockwise’ disciple or an ‘Im all about the anti clockwise life’ rebel either way just walk out the door, turn left and you’re on your way. And whilst the weather might have been a bit biblical lately sometimes it’s just about dancing (or more accurately hiking) in the rain rather than waiting for the storm to pass. Aaahh Autumn. It’s just so… autumny 🤷🏼‍♀️. There are a million reasons to visit the Lake District but to visit during autumn gives you a window into the true beauty of the region. And boy, does it deliver the goods. Nearly two years since we moved to this beautiful location and just over a year of hosting our beloved Holiday Cottage . Any regrets? Only that we wished we’d moved here sooner 😅.

NICE 😎 we’ve always provided a digital guide to the Cottage but now you can sit on your cozy sofa in front of the roaring fire and read it at your leisure. Preferably with something warm and soothing or cold and refreshing. Your choice… either way it’s nice ❤️.

HEAT…how YOU like it! So my one gripe about staying in a hotel/B&B/Holiday Home is that the heating is always set to someone else’s preferences and I either have to watch endless YouTube videos to work out the controls or moan about it to anyone that will listen (normally Mr Cottage On The Brook).

As all our guests know our commitment is that you’ll feel AT HOME staying in the cottage - as you like it with everything you could need. So we’ve made a few improvements for 2025 and one of them is our investment in a HIVE heating system with a controllable thermostat in a handy remote controller. So whether you like it arctic in the morning or cozy in the evening it’s up to you - your holiday, your cottage, your temperature. Done your way 😎❤️

Tell me you spoil your guests without telling me you spoil your guests… I’ll go first 😅. We thought “What do people have in their kitchens at home that they might give serious consideration to putting in their suitcase?” And after extensive research (asked our Millennial offspring) the answer was “I live and die by my Air Fryer”. Which threw us a bit as we were expecting wine cooler/shot glasses/cocktail shaker style answers but there you go. So we went all in and are pleased to confirm you can now air fry to your hearts content when you stay with us. No, you’re awesome 😍😎

Our wonderful guests really put a pause on changeover today leaving this jigsaw out for us! We’re going to have to finish it now aren’t we?!

…although we do have a suspicion they may have been telling us there’s some pieces missing 👀

Wow, wow, wow!!!! So amazing to receive the news that we’ve won a Traveller Review Award for our first year of opening the cottage to guests. We’ve met some wonderful new friends (including four legged ones!!) and look forward to welcoming some of them back this year. So proud that our Lake District Holiday Cottage has earned a Booking.com Traveller Review Award for its first year of business!!! Amazing award, awesome score and it’s all down to our wonderful guests - including the fabulous four legged ones! From weekend breaks to family friendly stays and romantic getaways we’ve met wonderful people from all over the world and we’re looking forward to seeing some of them again this year. One of the best things about Cottage On The Brook is the huge amount - and variety - of walks and activities available from the door. Fan of the mountains? Spoilt for choice. Fancy a dip? Both Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite can be reached on foot. Or is Forest Bathing more your thing? Wander to Whinlatter and take your bike if you like.

Whatever your preference you’ve got it all on your doorstep. And, don’t worry, the nearby pubs are open late… 🍺 🥘 🍷
