Hadrian's Holidays

Hadrian's Holidays We offer lodges doing B+B and glamping. The lodges have underfloor heating; microwave; fridge; TV, wifi, ensuite bathroom; chairs and tables inside and outside.

We have an outside BBQ. We also offer tours of the surrounding areas. We offer a lot in the way of facilities - just ask and we would love to help you create your perfect holiday! We also accept guests with well behaved dogs. Our tours cover the Roman remains - tours of the forts and longer walks. We also cover other periods of history e.g. the Reivers, the story of Christianity in the North and much more!

Would you like to explore Hadrian's Wall Country using public transport? It's easier than you might think to reach the rural, central section. Relax and enjoy the views!

🚂 Tyne Valley Community Rail Partnership has a guide on exploring Hadrian's Wall by train (link in comments below) Their guide actually covers rail travel to all UK UNESCO World Heritage Sites, so it's a rich resource.

🚌Go North East runs the AD122 bus route to/from Hexham train station to Walltown covering Roman sites such as Chesters, Housesteads and Vindolanda. Hexham is around 40 mins by train from Newcastle.

🚌*New for 2026* From the west you can now catch the HW1 bus to-from Carlisle. This route includes Birdoswald.

Some of the daily AD122 and HW1 timings have been designed to 'kiss' in the car park at Walltown Country Park, so that you can continue east or west on your journey (timetables linked to in comments below).

It's lovely to hear about the background to famous TV characters. Here is how the real 'Del boy' came about in Only Fools and Horses...

This area inspires Nigel and Catherine

Nigel and Catherine Jarvis have been offering their home and sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm for this fascinating area for over a decade, now they have upgraded their accommodation with these two locally built Lodges. We are amazed how popular they are proving to be - our guests are really enjoying the cosy and comfortable facilities we have in the Lodges. Every morning we bring a delicious breakfast to our guests’ rooms.

We love hosting visitors to this area, of which we are so proud, and having an opportunity to introduce them to aspects of its history and “story”. It’s a privilege to inspire visitors and for them to see more than they may have otherwise done. There is so much here, there are stories from so many periods of history - The Romans were only here for a few hundred years, yet there is evidence here from several thousands of years of human influence upon the landscape. By understanding all this better we believe that we can experience so much more from this land around the World Heritage Site.
