❗️ An important message to guests ❗️

For the time being, please do not use BBQs, fire pits or disposable BBQs, or light any fires or other open flames at the Villas.

With the prolonged hot, dry weather, the ground and vegetation around Saunton and Braunton Burrows are incredibly dry.

We'd also ask everyone to take particular care when out and about around the dunes and surrounding countryside. In conditions like these, it only takes a single spark or ember for a fire to take hold and spread very quickly.

We’re incredibly lucky to have such an incredible environment quite literally on our doorstep, so thank you for helping us protect the Villas, the dunes, local wildlife and our wider community. 💙

This evening saw Saunton Beach bathed in a gorgeous softened golden glow as the moon passed across the face of the sun ✨️🌒

With around 94% of the sun covered at the height of the partial eclipse, the light over the beach became strangely muted for a few remarkable minutes. With the tide high, the surf up, and the sky clear, it really has been a pretty special evening at Saunton, one we won’t forget in a hurry. 🌙☀️

🌒 Something pretty special is happening in the sky this Wednesday evening, and Saunton is set to get one of the best views in the UK...

A partial solar eclipse will see around 94% of the Sun covered over North Devon at its peak, making it the most significant solar eclipse seen from the UK since 1999. ☀️🌒

And with Saunton’s huge open horizon looking out across the Atlantic, we could be in for one of those evenings you remember for a very long time. 🌊☀️

Partial Eclipse Timings for Saunton Sands, Wednesday 12th August:

🌒 Partial eclipse begins: 6.17pm
🌘 Maximum eclipse: 7.14pm
☀️ Around 94% of the Sun covered
🌒 Eclipse ends: 8.08pm
🌅 Sunset: around 8.44pm

The eclipse will take place low in the western sky, so if the weather plays ball, we should be in for quite a sight over the sea. 🌊

🌠 And as if that wasn’t enough, Wednesday night also coincides with the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, with a New Moon making conditions particularly good for spotting shooting stars later in the evening. ✨

❗️If you’re planning to watch the eclipse, please remember that it is never safe to look directly at the Sun during a partial eclipse. Proper certified eclipse glasses are essential, even at maximum coverage.

"Wonderful stay with our 2 cockapoos. The location is fantastic right by the beach with a cafe, shop and restaurant all to hand. Parked right outside accommodation which was spotless and had everything needed for a few days including a secure yard for the dogs to play in safely. This was my 3 rd visit and will be back - my happy place"
