Site of the 2nd St Drostan's Church,1763-1811 opposite Rowan Hill.
Built in 1763 and used until1811. The site can be reached by walking across the hillside from the Cross Stone. Detailed map and visual guidance can be found on our website at: www.stdrostans.org/the-church-and-its-history.html

The church was built by 98 men of the congregation, collecting stones from the hills, within a week they had the walls standing and within three weeks they had the roof thatched and the floor laid with earth and gravel. It was 74 ft long and 14ft wide. The corners of the remains are presently marked by painted stones.

CORONAVIRUS
Limited re-opening of the Lodge

We have been allowed a limited re-opening, with strict conditions in place to avoid the spread of Covid 19

Anyone with any symptoms should not come to the Lodge

Each person attending to be allocated a specific room, toilet/shower to use during their stay, and this is to be recorded by the Group Leader.

The Group Leader to inform the Booking Secretary 3 days in advance of arrival, of the names of those attending and desired rooms, so that only required bedding is laid out.

The Group Leader to record by name who actually occupies each room during the stay using the room record form which also shows contact details.

These Records of Room and Toilet/shower usage to be left on Refectory table for the cleaner on leaving Lodge. (Any person showing signs of virus within 7 days of leaving lodge to be reported to Booking Secretary so that others using same facilities can be warned, along with contact tracers)

Persons should regularly hand wash and sanitise, and work surfaces and table tops should be regularly cleaned.(Sanitiser is provided at main entrances to Lodge, Kitchen and Forbes room. Appropriate surface cleaner will also be provided)

The Dishwasher should be used for all dishes, tableware and cutlery.

Windows should be left open on departure to ensure adequate ventilation.

All groups visiting St Drostan’s Lodge during the current pandemic must agree to the terms, in addition to those indicated on the initial booking form. The Group Leader is responsible for ensuring that the terms are adhered to by group members during their visit.

Scenes from our Open Day and Barbeque

Once again, the famous ST DROSTAN'S ""FREE-BURGER"" was greatly appreciated, thanks to Anthony for his "Master-chef " skills. Hamish McBishop's Mitre was the final clue in the Treasure Hunt, and Bishop Andrew was awarded custody of Hamish, as has been our tradition with new Bishops who come along to our open day.
The Poetry of Angus Davidson was well received by the "non treasure hunters", and the Piper provided interesting local background music.
The day concluded with some enthusiastic singing at our Songs of Praise, which was enjoyed by young and old.
Thanks to everyone who contributed by joining us for this very special event.

Brains have been Stormed!
A lot of new ideas for the future of St Drostan's Lodge were identified on Saturday.
Two work groups have been set up, one to look at community involvement and the other at a "re-booting St Drostan's" and "Blue Sky" ideas, both reporting back to the Trustees later this year
