There are many ways to climb Pen y Fan - the highest peak in the Brecon Beacons. This route from the Brecon side of the mountain is a beauty. You walk along a ridge to Cribyn, before heading over to Pen y Fan. I love the dramatic views of the central Beacons peaks from the North side ❤️

Our top 3 nearby towns to visit from Pentwyn Barn… Abergavenny - a foodie delight with some great markets, cafes and parks… next up is Hay on Wye with so many lovely independent shops, a fantastic market and the unique opportunity to arrive there by canoe along the River Wye with the many canoe hire companies close by… and last but not least Crickhowell - a place where I always manage to buy something from the bakers/ bookshop/ cafes/ zero waste shop!

Top tip for a beautiful little woodland to explore near Brecon: Held Wood. Such a special spot with wild garlic, waterfalls and winding trails, a perfect mini adventure.
