Apricot jam has its own level in the world of preserves. I used to think of it as something to stick fondant to cakes. But it really is such a pretty colour and it has a delicate floral flavour that keeps you coming back for more!

What better than supermarket apricot jam you ask?

Homemade apricot jam make by me! Packed full of chunky fruit. Perfect on hot seedy buttery toast. It will be part of our breakfast service for as long as apricots are in season.

This is one of the best exhibitions I’ve ever been to. Meg Stevens captured the beauty of the Brecon Beacons in a photo realistic/ impressionist style that had me walking towards and away from paintings in a sort of manic wonder.

The view from Mynnydd Illtud this week and her painting Brecon Beacons with Autumn Bracken painted over 14 years ago are an almost exact match. Even though she phased away in 2012, I see her spirit in the landscapes of the Brecon Beacons.

One of the lesser known but heartwarming quaint events of Brecon jazz is the Brecon flower show. This year’s theme was ‘movies’ and my favourite was the Wizard of Oz display.

The hand made figures are being auctioned to raise funds for a dementia charity and the beautiful Plough Chapel in which the flower show is held.

I know the is stunning in all seasons, we have lived here for nearly a decade now. But still it gives me moments of beauty so perfect it almost hurts.

The rhododendron hedges in the grounds of simply took my breath away today.
