Cefeillion (friends) by 2025

This beautiful jewel of a painting on driftwood took hold of my heart the moment I laid eyes on it.

Behind the two children rise jagged, unforgiving mountains. Their expressions are tinged with fear and uncertainty, and instinctively they turn towards one another for support, clinging—almost incongruously—to a laughing, sparkling salmon that leaps purposefully from the water.

It spoke to me of the power of hope and friendship: how they carry us through times of adversity and despair, even when the world feels harsh and unyielding.

The painting depicts Cai and Bedwyr, legendary warriors and devoted friends from the Mabinogion, being guided by the wise old salmon of Llyn Llew on their journey to rescue Mabon from his prison in Gloucester.

My wonderful brother (in law🤗) handed me a bag of freshly foraged hazelnuts many moons ago, I’ve wanted to find my own ever since.

Last week I discovered a lovely clutch of trees 2 minutes away from the borderers. Trees I’ve been walking past nearly as long as I’ve lived in Brecon

Foraging plays an important roll in Palestinian cuisine. The wonderfully fragrant herb zataar for example.

As the autumn rolls in, with its scent of woodsmoke and cosy nights in, I find peace in the incredible beauty of the .

For anyone else struggling with current global events, take care of yourselves, because otherwise you aren’t going to be able to care for anyone else.

109 humanitarian organisations have released a joint statement to call attention to the horrors unfolding in Gaza today.

Did you know that people can survive without food for upto 3 weeks, but without water, kidney start to shut down within 3 days and death follows soon after.

Since the Covid years, the comfort kitchen fundraisers have helped me cope with the horrors or world is facing.

But how can I cook to raise funds for people who are being slowly starved to death?

2.1 million people in Gaza today are facing death by dehydration and starvation today.

What we can do:

1. Bear witness- follow the accounts of people in Gaza like
2. Write to your government representatives
3. Join local demonstration and Palestine affiliated groups
4. Donate if you can, to trusted organisations- I donate to
5. Support one another, if you don’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of anyone else.

REMEMBER- it is a GENOCIDE NOT A FAMINE
