Nobby the squirrel has been eating his stash of nuts..you can see the yurt in the background. There is always something cool to find in nature. This prompts me to read about Nobby and what kind are his favourite...when he buries etc. A bit like Sam, she blew me away with a story about little mice and how they are the unsung heroes of trees.

The season is go go go!! So happy to keep you comfy too...Brand new mattress for the 2nd double from Dreams..t'was a fun shopping trip choosing it. Your comfort is important to us. The other double is a mega thousand pocket spring one. They're both top notch! 4 x feather pillows to match on each bed too. We love to hear how well folks slept in the night especially unprompted.💖💤😴🤗

***Newsflash*** 😃WILDLIFE CORRIDOR IN THE MAKING 😃....

A hedge is the best thing you can give to nature in my opinion.

It acts as a transit route for floor species, re-uniting them with family from the pond in the next land that they couldn't reach safely before and keeping them safe for sleeping or resting. The shade and cover from predators allows this Mecca to a different land. It's also an massively amazing thing for birds both for nesting and for berries for winter.

Bees will love the pollen from its flowers.

A fence to protect the hedge allows it to thrive and not be nibbled by livestock, deer or mowed off by mistake by an over enthusiastic tractor driver.

Particularly as posts about toilets don't seem to be popular these days, I thought I would let some of our followers in on this news and how this has come about...

We had a dog attack last year, two large dogs jumped the fence and one of them tore up a sheep. It was truly horrendous and I never wish to see that again. The stress of the incident lasted many weeks and many bags of sheep nuts later they finally calmed and stopped bunching up as a tight flock and started to spread out eating grass again. Somehow it was an omen and thus I'm giving up a 3 metre wide zone all around the farm for hedge planting. The hedge will eventually become impregnable for dogs but whilst this was the initial intention, it has become increasingly overwhelming to realise just what a benefit this will become to nature in the long run too.
Many metres of mixed native hedging has already been laid internally here and the boundary hedge will comprise of a similar variety of species which I'm really looking forward to watching grow and flourish in the future.

It will take me around 6 years to complete in between other work and maintenance jobs. So far this year I have just smashed out 200m to the south just in time for the arrival of our winter keep sheep.

Perhaps this will last as my legacy for this small parcel of land at Latters Toll Farm.
