Our Saturday headliners are the Sottish mega-band, Niteworks, from the Isle of Skye. They will sound absolutely stunning in the forest with their unique blend of folk and electronica with haunting Gaelic lyrics, cinematic rhythms and atmospheric tunes . It's a real privilege to welcome our Celtic brothers to Cymru and Between The Trees. Niteworks

The Biophilia hypothesis is not new, the term "biophilia" was first used by German-born American psychoanalyst Erich Fromm in The Anatomy of Human Destructiveness (1973), which described biophilia as “the passionate love of life and of all that is alive.
The idea is that humans possess an innate tendency to seek connections with nature and other forms of life.” The term was later used by American biologist Edward O. Wilson in his work Biophilia (1984), which proposed that the tendency of humans to focus on and to affiliate with nature and other life-forms has, in part, a genetic basis.
Recently, I read an article which said that humans can actually suffer from nature deprivation and this is similar to any other deficiency eg vitamin deficiency. So the need to feel connected to nature may be so innate that it is essential for a healthy life.

Camp in a Welsh forest by the sea

Woods and Dunes is a unique glamping experience and provides opportunity to immerse yourself in nature by camping in the middle of a beautiful woodland. The Candleston campsite is situated adjacent to Merthyr Mawr Warren National Nature Reserve. The reserve is one of Wales’ Sites of Special Scientific Interest and boasts the biggest sand dunes in the UK. It is a haven for wildlife and provides the opportunity to explore a rare and unspoilt natural habitat. The combination of a comparatively warm sunny site, lots of nectar from wildflowers and easy-to-burrow-into sandy soils, creates an ideal home for a wide range of moths, butterflies, reptiles and mammals. Due to the unique soil and climate conditions, the 840-acre reserve also contains a huge variety of plant life within its diverse grassland, woodland and saltmarsh areas. In land, lies the historic village of Merthyr Mawr with its picturesque thatched cottages and Parish Church. Nearby are the remains of an Iron Age Hill Fort and the ruins of Candleston Castle. Visit www.woodsanddunes.co.uk for more details and how to book a tent.
