“Surely the best turned out Potting Shed in England”.... from Alastair Sawday’s book “Go Slow England”. The ‘Potting Shed’ is completely separate to our own 400-year-old family home. As guests you have your own entrance door and key to enable you to come and go as you please. It is a charming, safe and secure, quietly situated double room with modern en-suite. Lovely views over the walled gardens and adjacent 15th century Church. Ideal both for single guests or couples.

Facilities in the room include a double bed with white cotton bed linen, towels, free wi-fi, hairdryer and kettle together with a well stocked tea/coffee tray and organic chilled West Country milk. In the morning guests are welcome to breakfast in our dining room. This is normally of ‘European’ style, typically with ‘quality’ breads (usually homemade), together with a selection of smoked/cured meats, fine cheese, eggs, cereals, toast, homemade marmalade, homemade Bircher muesli, Lavazza cafetière coffee and a selection of teas. Alternatively we can offer a cooked breakfast of traditional dry cured bacon and free range eggs. Vegetarian, Vegan and gluten free breakfasts are also available. We strive to use organic and locally sourced produce and to be as accommodating as possible in fitting within your own itineraries.
Breakfast can also if desired be brought to the Potting Shed itself or indeed on sunny days laid in the garden under the tulip tree perhaps or within the newly restored and fully productive organic Kitchen Garden. In any case guests are welcome to linger in these areas enjoying the plants and views during their stay. There is ample guest parking space on the quiet road in front of the property. Guests are also welcome to use the ironing board and washing machine in our cottage by arrangement. We will always of course aim to be around for your arrival so we are on hand to help with any questions about the room or local area.
We have a very friendly flat coat retriever dog called ‘Fleur’. She is a warm hearted member of our family and certainly loves visitors. Fleur does however know she is not permitted in the guest accommodation.
