Today’s walk: Flamborough Head to Bridlington
Woke up to nice sunshine so we decided that tiday is the day to take on a new walk, despite strong wind and a forecast of rain from 6pm.
An easy drive to Flamborough head, parked next to the lighthouse. The plan was to do a circular walk from here via South Ending beach.
We walked straight into the “Sleepong Dinosaur”. It has become a popular habitat for seals. Seals swam in and out freely.
It’s still a bit muddy but breathtaking views along these white chalky cliffs.
Soon we arrived at South Ending beach after a short flights of steps. The life boat station runs a little shop alongside. We went in and talked with two nice elderly ladies there who persuaded us to get some super cool metal reusable water bottles.
We made the decision to carry on and extend the walk to Bridlington instead of going inland for Flamborough.
So we took some pretty steep steps up, back into the coastal walk.
After some negotiations with narrow muddy rows we came down to Dane’s D**e. Another place for a break or play. There is a little cafe next to the car park a 5 mins walk up from the beach.
We just carried on, as someone started to feel thirsty for a pint. it’s too hard to get lost, as we could see Bridlington ahead albeit in distance. The walk was flat and easy.
Sewerby Cricket ground was within reach and so was the Ship Inn pub. We went in fir a well deserved drink or two. The young one was dragging her feet but soon had a run in the pub’s outdoor playground.
Another 20 mins we arrived into Bridlington town centre, mission completed😊 we took a taxi back to the car park fearing fir the rain. We could have taken the bus which will drop us back to Flamborough village which is 30 mins walk up to Flamborough Head.
It’s a 6.5 miles walk, took us about 2 1/2 hours ( without the extended pub break) with lots of little water/photo breaks.
