Our Guided Writing Week at Rushay starts next weekend, with Beatrix Potter’s Tale of Samuel Whiskers as my teaching text. Short, brilliant and rich in hints, tips and examples for writers, from lessons in dialogue and characterisation to issues of plot, setting and dramatic irony. Oh, and she banishes the dreaded soggy middle with one clever stroke!
