The famous Nettle Eating Competition takes place every year, one of many iconic (quirky) events that makes West Dorset so special.

Just north west of Bridport is an iconic event. Back at the Bottle Inn at Marshwood, the World Nettle Eating Championship has gathered the crowds and competitors are half way through eating the leaves off as many stalks of nettles as they can in an hour. There are Bridport competitors 🤞

This is West Bay, our local beach with the iconic East Cliff in the background. Less than two and a half miles (downhill) from our cottages (10 minute drive or 1 hour walk), it is beautiful at any time of the year. There are many fabulous beaches within an hour’s drive of Washingpool Farm, from Charmouth (fossil hunting) and Lyme Regis (Mary Anning) westwards to Chesil beach and Regency Weymouth Eastwards.

Throwback to 2016 when Broadchurch series 3 was filmed at the farm. What an amazing experience that was. Washingpool Farm Shop was the location for Lenny Henry’s character’s business and our house was used as his home. At one point Vicky had to climb out of her sitting room window to avoid the cast and crew 🤦🏼‍♀️
