Magical May!

Spring has well and truly arrived shouting ‘wake up – life is happening!’ at full voice,
And we can restart our engines, fire ourselves up, get moving and just simply rejoice!
Nature is in full blown growth and renewal mode with a new, thick and lush lawn,
Emerging bats, drumming woodpeckers and the symphony of the bird chorus at dawn!
To match all this the Good Times Live comes to Chipping Sodbury with acts such Jessie J
Madness, Emeli Sande and Tom Odell plus a whole lot more creating a stella cabaret!
A little bit of Rio comes to the town on the 31st of May with the Big Lunch of Feathers and Fiesta’
Showcasing a few hours of samba dancing and colourful carnival vibes before a long-needed siesta!
In nearby Yate, the Football Club is hosting a day of music, entertainment and vans full of ice creams,
And in Chipping Sodbury the Dominic Alldis Trio perform a fresh approach to classical themes.
So waste no time in making the most on all that is on offer and email or call to book a room,
And check out the town and surrounding area and enjoy the displays planted by Sodbury in Bloom!

Awesome April!

April feels like the month where we sit up a little straighter – not yet fully sprung but not wrapped up in an emotional fleece,
With the end of the relentless wet and grey days in sight as nature gets ready for its colourful showpiece!
Let’s forget about soup stains on jumpers, bank balances squinting and energy levels vanishing by 3pm or even before,
As we think of inching out of hibernation, looking forward to warmer times and seeing our motivation simply soar!
We have the long Easter weekend to look forward to with chocolate eggs to enjoy plus Parades and a time to reflect,
With family and friends as we also tuck into hot cross buns and roast lamb, plus sports and games and decorations to inspect!
In Chipping Sodbury The Sodbury Yarn Over takes place with over 50 exhibitors showcasing knitting, spinning and crochet,
Plus the town tenner’s back promoting all the lovely shops in the High Street and encouraging everyone to spend money all day!
Our House is being performed at the Town Hall, as well as a Jersey Boys tribute act and the ‘That 80’s Rock Show’
Presenting an unforgettable night of big hair, big riffs and even bigger anthems sung with energy, enthusiasm and gusto!
So why not pay a visit to The Moda House and the town and enjoy all this plus Chamber music and Kokomo singing soul,
And let go for a few hours and share the joy of music making whether it is classical, disco or simply rock and roll!

Mother’s Day March!

March sees the warmer season approaching with daffodils blooming and lighter evenings as the clocks do their thing,
Creating a busy time for nature with frogspawn appearing as we slowly transition from the dark winter into glorious Spring!
The classic English idiom ‘in like a lion, out like a lamb’ aptly describes the shift from the harsh weather into gentle sunshine,
Plus the ‘mad as March hare’ describing the energetic and erratic boxing behaviour of hares during their mating deadline.
In Chipping Sodbury the Super Duper Troopers are at the Town Hall reliving the time when Abba were the dancing Queens,
With their iconic hits such the Winner Takes It All and Mamma Mia, and their platform shoes and glossy flared jeans!
A Band Called Malice are also performing, meticulously recreating the energy, precision and passion that was The Jam,
With an explosive live show that will transport audiences back to the heyday of mood revival with a full setlist and programme.
Slightly further afield near the lovely Regency town of Cheltenham, the National Hunt race meeting takes place with the famous Gold Cup,
One of the greatest of all jump-racing events where dreams are realised with a relentlessly tense and usually dramatic build up!
So let us all begin to think about fresh and hopeful weather conditions as March is a month that captures fickle two-faced days,
And look forward to and enjoy the bright yellow sight of the cheery daffodils in all their glory, and to gaze at nature’s seasonal phase!

Frosty February!

As we approach the ‘love’ month, Christmas seems like a dream and distant memory, and resolutions are floundering and broken
With plans and projects, perhaps too big, vague and unrealistic, put to one side with reasons being left unspoken!
February is a short month and can be a sluggish, dark and languishing one but we can also catch our proverbial breath,
Shake off those failed resolutions, pick up strength for new habits and wash away the old ones and put them all to death!
As usual there is much happening in Chipping Sodbury Town Hall with Dire Streets performing a show with their classic studio tracks,
And an ultimate popstar experience for Swifties and Stylers showcasing a dancing and singing tribute show with a stunning climax!
Tony is also on stage as Robbie Williams leaving audiences gagging for more with onlookers asking ‘Is it or isn’t it’,
And Vicky Jackson and her band return with their authentic tribute to P!NK wowing everyone with her energy, bespoke costumes and grit!
So whilst it can seem like a difficult month getting fed up with waking up on cold, dark mornings, removing ice and snow from the car,
We can also begin to feel the days getting a little longer and can anticipate the first snowdrops pushing through and the prettiest sight by far!

Jubilant January!

As one year ends the beginning of another is like an invitation – a gentle, hopeful invitation to begin again
And to take stock and have a moment to look back at what mattered most and to reconnect with your brain!
January is definitely the month to hibernate on the sofa with a cuppa whilst plotting big dreams and passion projects,
And to have time to think about the future and what you don’t want to do and what you DO want to do next!
The Sodbury Players are back in action with a Snow White pantomime for all to enjoy the slapstick and cross-dressing parts,
And also at the Town Hall there is a tribute act showcasing the legendary hits of Genesis and Phil Collins that touched our hearts.
So let’s get on with fresh starts and make the shift from holiday cheer to the reality of winter weather and possibly the January blues,
And embrace the time for reflection, planning and setting goals, being kinder and only doing things that we want and choose!

Dazzling December!

Step into the festive spirit and into a month of nourishing suppers, flickering fires and long cold country treks,
Not to mention all the sparkle, the act of giving plus the family get togethers with the ‘oohs and aahs’ and the many ‘air’ pecks!
After all the weeks of busy preparation and planning it is so lovely to take some time out and enjoy a tipple or two
With friends and families and to catch up with stories accompanied by a bottle, a corkscrew and some steaming beef stew!
But before we can really relax there is still plenty to do and enjoy in Chipping Sodbury from Guitar Trios to the Crib Fest
Displaying an inspiring collection of nativity cribs from far and wide and with delicious homemade cakes to test and digest!
The first Sunday in December heralds the arrival of Christmas Sunday with entertainment galore and The Original Santa Floats,
With all day live acts, real donkeys, funfair rides and 70 varied shopping stalls to spend those precious bank notes!
The Bristol Ensemble present an evening of festive classics at Badminton House, with timeless carols performed in candlelight,
Creating an exquisite backdrop with cherished music to surround you in an atmosphere of beauty, celebration and sheer delight!
So as the 2025 draws to a close let us take a moment of reflection and look forward to new beginnings alongside the chance to mingle
With loved ones, focusing on themes of giving, warmth and peace whilst kissing under the mistletoe and letting those bells jingle!

Yes to November!

As we edge towards the month that brings Christmas and all that it entails with the seasonal build up madness,
It is hard to believe that this year is almost coming to an end with an air of surprise and perhaps a tinge of sadness!
But there is still lots of activities taking place both here in gorgeous Chipping Sodbury, and not so very far away
From Craft and Gift Fayres to classical music in the form of The Aglica Trio with a varied programme to play.
The ever-popular tribute acts are back with Now I’m Here putting on an incredible show to celebrate the amazing band
Of Queen, with energy and excitement to bring to life their greatest hits crafted to transport you on a journey first hand.
Up at the nearby Badminton Estate there is a day of Christmas crafting with elaborate knitting and scented candle making,
Plus wreath workshops and cookery demonstrations with the chance to taste and enjoy the creations and sample the baking!
November is also the month famous for Guy Fawkes Night with bonfires and fireworks to commemorate the failed Gunpowder plot,
And Remembrance Day takes place as we all honour the service and sacrifice of those who fought in wars and must not be forgot.
On a lighter note Mother Goose, the pantomime, is performed with a tale of golden eggs plus stunning sets and a little horseplay,
So come to The Moda House to experience all that the town can offer and enjoy our lovely rooms for a short or long stay!

Golden October

October heralds the change from summer to autumn and holds the promise of cooler morning mists and fresher days,
Along with the most beautiful and glorious colourful blaze, and the final few moments of catching the last of the sunny rays.
But life is not slowing down in Chipping Sodbury with several tribute acts coming to town from the one and only Witney Houston to U2UK
To perform all of Witney’s hits, and to celebrate the mighty Irish rock legends with a nod to their distinctive sound and political sway.
Elvis makes an appearance too, and Rod Stewart is here performing his classics such as You Wear it Well and Maggie May,
And if that is not your bag then the Ensemble Renard are performing chamber music, and there is also a Burlesque Creepshow and Cabaret!
We can also look forward to the trick and treating rituals, crazy costumes and fancy masks that go hand in hand with Halloween,
And the deciduous trees shed their leaves which turn into vibrant colours like rusty red and orange creating a magical scene!
So let’s get ready for cosy nights with a blanket, the changing foliage, pumpkins, sweaters, scarves and piping hot soup for lunch
And enjoy the sense of transition and reflection with the season’s natural beauty grand finale and the leaves underfoot making a crunch!

Stunning September!

This summer will soon be over, and we can anticipate cooler days and the dreaded darker morning blues,
Alongside sharpened pencils, the seductive pull of fresh stationery and those shiny brand-new shoes!
But there is still plenty to look forward to both here in Chipping Sodbury and in the surrounding locality
From Fayres, both Craft and Spiritual, to an 80’s throwback night to bring out your moves and personality!
The gardens at Badminton House are open with glorious displays of plants on a stunning and magnificent scale,
And the Sodbury Players present the Legend of Sleepy Hollow with the Headless Horseman and its gothic tale.
Also nearby are courses in coppicing, a traditional method of woodland management to allow light to reach the floor,
And the annual Wedding Fair takes place to find local services to create the perfect day for you and the one you adore!
In nearby Bath the Jane Austen Festival takes place with a Regency Costumed Promenade, plus walks and talks and much more,
And is an opportunity to enjoy a varied programme inspired by the timeless works of the author, and an in-depth chance to explore.
So as the back-to-school vibes continue and the long hot balmy summer holidays are finally dwindling and drawing to an end,
Come to The Moda House and Chipping Sodbury for a lovely stay to discover the area either as a couple or with a friend!
