Dart Haven

Dart Haven Welcome to Dart Haven, our little 2 bed holiday chalet. (1 king & 1 single). Compact, bijou, bright & cheerful whilst being well equipped and comfortable

Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty with views from the patio towards the River Dart. Dart Haven benefits from a premier, elevated position on Galmpton Holiday Park, also known as Galmpton Park Bungalows and enjoys views of the Dart and Dartmoor. We offer very clean, bright and cheerful, quirky teeny tiny chalet bungalow accommodation. Parking is allocated and very close by. The chalet is

south facing so in good weather gets the sunshine all day long and at sundown, if you're lucky there are some wonderful sunsets you can sit and enjoy from the patio. It's the ideal place to bring a dog, you can walk straight from the chalet down the lanes to Galmpton Creek, do a circular village walk or a little further on foot to Greenway House, the National Trust Estate which was formerly owned by Agatha Christie. The only extra charge is electricity - there is a coin operated meter which takes £1 and £2 coins. We have invested in quality comfortable furniture and beds, which as owners, think is paramount to a good holiday experience. After a day visiting the resorts, walking the coast paths, or time spent at many other places nearby, we all need to relax in comfort at the end of a busy day. Every day in the holiday season you will glimpse the steam and hear the Dart Valley train chugging past. Evening brings a different glow to the Dart as the sun goes down, we hope you are lucky enough to experience some of the wonderful sunsets. As darkness gathers you may well hear the owls and see a vista of stars on a clear night. The distant views to the River Dart and Dartmoor beyond truly makes this spot a little gem on the English Riviera. With National Trust Greenway House very close by, the wonderful house and gardens of Coleton Fishacre and coast path there are plenty of things to see and do in the local area. If you like a lively place to stay with lots going on, Dart Haven isn't the place for you! There's no shop, no club house, nothing but peace and quiet. There is a really good local village pub and shops within walking distance. Guests chose Dart Haven due to the location, being near to Brixham, Paignton, Torquay, Dartmouth, Broadsands, Goodrington, Stoke Gabriel and the village of Dittisham. You really don't have to walk too far to see some stunning views. If you're not a walker, a car is needed, but there is public transport from the main road, about a 15 minute walk away. The holiday park has a certain charm, being little changed since being built in the early 70's! A couple of things to note:
We are only insured for a maximum of 3 guests. No smoking or vaping permitted. We will welcome your dog but please only dogs older than a year and dogs cannot be left in the chalet or on the patio whilst you are out. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times in the park, except when in the accommodation or on the patio. There is a small dog walk area at the bottom of the park which is really handy. This has recently been fenced. The accommodation is very small, but very well equipped for your stay. There is limited room around the king size bed but we thought it more important to provide very good quality beds for your comfort, as we ourselves would choose. If you are very tall, the bed has a raised end panel (so your legs can't extend over the bed!). Ball games and kite flying are not permitted on the park due to overhead cables. Out of the main summer season, you may experience some noise in the bedrooms from the fans (some people can hear them and some can't). If you know you are very sensitive to noise these can't be turned off so this probably isn't the accommodation for you. We switch them off during the summer months as they aren't required. We have fitted heat recovery extractor fans to both bedrooms due to the construction of the chalet. These units control the humidity of the bedrooms for your comfort, so you can relax knowing that it will take care of everything for you as they also offer continuous trickle ventilation. They constantly clean and purify the air you breathe.

These are a great idea if you don't want annual membership but want to visit some beautiful properties, estates and gardens whilst staying with us.

National Trust Greenway is just down the country road beside the bungalow. Coleton Fishacre is on the way to Dartmouth.

I'm sure many guests have been to the incredibly pretty little village of Cockington and also visited Cockington Court, especially if they have dogs as it's a great place to let them run.

But how many of you knew that Patrick the Pony is the Major of Cockington?

The Drum Inn is very well known and a firm favourite. Cockington Court is a lovely place to visit, with coffee shop, arts and crafts, rose garden and a host of little independent arty shops selling their crafts. It also has a little church in the grounds and a series of lakes on different levels. It's worth a trip and not far from the chalet.

We love it there and so do our dogs.

Good morning beautiful people, Happy Monday, wishing you all a great day.
