There's something lovely about returning from a walk in the New Forest and finding a comfortable seat beside the fire, particularly as the October evenings begin to turn cooler.

Our Lounge Bar at Rhinefield House is made for just such occasions, with views across the ornamental ponds, fountains and gardens, and a fireplace that makes the room especially welcoming during the colder months.

Our bar team are on hand to prepare something to suit the occasion, perhaps an Amaretto Sour, bringing together sweet almond and citrus, or a more bittersweet cocktail served over ice and finished with orange.

It's a lovely way to begin an evening before dinner in the Armada Restaurant, or to round off a day exploring the forest. And should you prefer to stay a little longer, we certainly won't hurry you along.

There are plenty of stories within the walls of Rhinefield House, but this November, we'll be introducing one with a rather sinister twist.

Join us on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th November for our Murder Mystery Weekend, hosted by The Killing Game.

Our Victorian country house, surrounded by the ancient woodland of the New Forest, provides the setting for an evening of intrigue, curious characters and carefully concealed secrets.

As you enjoy food and drink throughout the experience, the story will unfold around you. You'll have the opportunity to question the characters, consider their alibis and piece together the clues. Of course, not everyone will be telling the truth, and a convincing story doesn't necessarily mean an innocent suspect.

For those who would prefer not to leave once the mystery has been solved, overnight accommodation is also available as part of selected packages.

Whether you're a seasoned detective or simply looking for a different way to spend an autumn weekend, we'd be delighted to welcome you.

If you've visited Rhinefield House before, you'll know that arriving here is part of the experience.

The approach takes you beneath Canadian redwoods and copper beech trees, through the New Forest and towards a house that has stood here since the 1880s.

Built as a family home for the Walker-Munros, Rhinefield House brings together Tudor and Gothic architecture, with tall chimneys, beautifully detailed stonework and interiors inspired by the family's travels. Some of the craftsmanship inside is even older than the house itself, including a fireback in the Great Hall dating to 1653.

Outside, the grounds stretch across 40 acres. There are formal gardens to wander, ornamental ponds and fountains to admire, and terraces overlooking the landscape. The surrounding woodland is especially lovely at this time of year, when autumn begins to change the colours of the forest.

It's the kind of place where you can spend a morning exploring the grounds, settle in for a long lunch and still find somewhere new to wander afterwards.
