I find it mind-blowing that this small sector of Arran’s coastline is the UK’s ONLY no-take zone 🤯 Last time we visited we went on a Sea Scientist trip with COAST - so interesting to hear all about their amazing work!

Two local divers, Howard Wood and Don MacNeish, watched the seas around their home on the Isle of Arran get scraped bare by bottom trawling and scallop dredging.

So they decided to do something about it.

They spent the next 13 years campaigning to ban destructive fishing in their bay, and in 2008, they managed to secure Scotland's first ever No Take Zone.

Now scientists have found it's home to three times more marine life than the waters just outside it!
