Arran's prehistory isn't just standing stones!

Did you know that hidden in a woodland overlooking Brodick is a fascinating collection of prehistoric rock carvings?

These ancient engravings feature distinctive patterns and motifs that set them apart from many other Scottish examples of cup-and-ring art, making them one of Arran's most intriguing archaeological treasures.

We can't help but think the first carving looks a bit like a person with a dog at their feet... but perhaps that's just our imagination!

🦌Deer deer everywhere! 🛻

As we head into the rut the red deer across the island will have their minds on other matters and will be moving around looking for love so take extra care when driving, particularly at night as they can come out of no where.

If there are any incidents where dead or injured deer are needing removed from Arran Estate land from Lochranza to Brodick please contact the Arran Estate Office between 8am and 5pm on 01770 302203 and for emergency out of hours incidents ring, message or WhatsApp the estate manager, Callum, on 07557 383193.

If you can send an image or a pin marker of the location that would help ensure matters can be sorted out quickly.

Hi All, it has come to our attention there have been questions raised regarding the vehicles dumped in the lay-by opposite the Arran Heritage Museum. This is Arran Estate land and thanks for your concern.

The debris between the two campers is actually the remains of one of the two caravans that had been dumped here some time ago. We removed the rest of the two caravans at the end of last week but couldn’t fit any more on the trailer. We will be removing the remaining camper vans in due course. Arranging this does, however, take time and come at a cost so please bear with us.

We installed foundations for gate posts earlier in July and once cleared this lay-by will be closed off to try and prevent further dumping.
