Cottage of the Week: Pladda Cottage, Auchenhew, Kildonan

This week, weโ€™re shining a spotlight on Pladda Cottage, a cosy single-storey character cottage in a peaceful cliff-top location just outside Kildonan.

Sleeping 4 plus cot, this beautifully refurbished cottage offers stylish modern accommodation, elevated sea and rural views, high-speed fibre broadband and a thoughtful welcome gift including local goodies.

Inside, guests can enjoy an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, two comfortable bedrooms, a relaxing bathroom, books, games, DVDs and plenty of cosy touches for quiet evenings in.

The cottage also includes furniture and decoration made from reclaimed Arran whisky barrels, sustainable wood and work from local artists, giving it a lovely sense of place.

Outside, there is a private patio area for alfresco dining, along with access to a grassed area with benches and breathtaking sea views towards Kildonan and North Ayrshire.

The location is ideal for guests who love walking, wildlife and peaceful island stays, with Eas Mor forests and waterfall nearby, Kildonan beaches and seals around a mile away, and the Arran Coastal Way close by.

Dogs are welcome by arrangement. Pladda Cottage is available to book online, with Saturday changeovers. Short breaks are available from October to March inclusive.

Last week after missing the ferry by about 30 seconds we had an hour to kill, so took a stroll up along the postmans path that runs from Lochranza to Catacol. Great views, which I'm sure would be even better this week with a little sunshine.
