I often get asked what “NAVI” means, how I came up with the name of my business, or the story behind my logo. I thought today would be the perfect day to finally share it 🤍
Ten years ago today, on 1•20•16, we lost one of my favorite humans in the world, my Gramps. I remember speeding home from college classes, praying for just one more hug, one more smile. God had different plans.
When I began dreaming of a wedding coordination and planning business, I had no idea what the name or logo would be. The only thing I knew was that it would be centered around him.
Growing up, I admired the overflowing hydrangea bushes planted alongside his barn. We would talk about how beautiful they were, how hydrangeas might just be my favorite flower, and I was completely mesmerized by the science behind them (for anyone who doesn’t know… I’m a huge science nerd 🤓). The pH of the soil determines the color of a hydrangea, and that absolutely blew my mind. That’s where the hydrangea comes in, woven through my logo and branding.
So what about the name?
My Gramps had so many passions, and watching his entire demeanor light up when he talked about something he loved was pure magic. One thing he spoke so proudly about was his time serving our country in the Navy. Our family often laughs about the many photos of him in his Navy crewneck, always ready to talk about his service with pride.
And lastly, I wanted this business to always reflect what matters most to me, Jesus. I spent countless hours drinking coffee, highlighting my Bible, and reading Gramps’ favorite words with him, the red letters, the words Jesus spoke.
I hope everyone gets to meet someone who makes their entire universe go around. For me, that was Gramps.
