Well, what can we say but a huge thank you to Gary & Sandra who stayed with us this week. What a super review for The Barn! It's also the week we earned our 19th consecutive Super Host status with Airbnb. We might be getting quite good at this!

A five star review for our stay at the Barn ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A lovely welcome from our hosts Liz and Rob, Thank you!
Everything (and more) you could wish for. We felt instantly relaxed, comfortable and at home. Our list of do's and don't's:
Do's
- Do practice goat and sheep 'speak', they love to chat and are very photogenic
- Do if your legs allow, walk to Boston (you will then have to walk back)
- Do take a look at the beautiful cathedral
- Do chill in the garden with a cuppa
- Do grab ice lollies from the shop
- Do ride to chapel point, drink coffee, see the views, sea and beach
- Do, if you like a run, go early and spot the deer and their flashing white tails
- Do if you like little antique shops, take a ride to Sutton on Sea
- Do admire the expanse of land, feel free, relaxed and be grateful!

Don't's
- Do not steal a goat, sheep or donkey. Even if you feel bonded
- Do not cry on your drive home, you can always re-book another visit (or 2)
- Do not slide down the banister!

We are so lucky to have many fabulous farm shops close by. Imagine being able to buy meat that was reared less than 20 miles away and fresh seasonal veg, salad and fruit. It’s delicious and the ultimate way to keep food miles low. More importantly it protects our ability to grow our own food right here in Britain. Donkeys have arrived! New sign has gone up and glorious pumpkins are growing here! If you haven’t booked your break, now’s the time! The last few dates for 2025 are booking up. Autumn is a great time to visit as the trees change colour and the cooler evenings mean the log burner is a welcome feature in The Barn.
Book now and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside, long walks and visiting some of the most historic sites in the country.

I think it’s time to catch you all up on what’s been happening here! To say we’ve had a lot on these last few months is an understatement!
We’ve had our best ever lambing with 3 wonderful Lincoln Longwool ewe lambs added to the flock and a perfect ram lamb. He’ll be going to the Heckington show in July for sale and will go on to be a breeding ram for the breed. He’s a great pedigree and a little belter of a lamb! In between lambing, our Tess had a litter of Golden Doodle puppies! All 5 are healthy and doing great. They are starting to go to their new homes but we decided we couldn’t let them all go and Dino will stay with us! We are now a 2 Doodle house! And finally after 5 years, Rob gave in and we got 4 little Pygmy goats! My little girlie goat gang are settling in well and already a hit with guests!
We still have some availability for summer 2025 but dates are booking up! If you’re thinking of a peaceful, rural retreat The Barn is the place for you! Award winning and 5⭐️ rated! Dogs welcome!

The Lincoln Longwools feature again as a priority breed in this year’s Rare Breed Survival Trust watch list. If you’re staying with us this year, make sure you take some time to meet our small flock of these rare breed sheep. They are a very large breed with luscious wool and a kind temperament. We’ve had 4 lambs this year and we are so proud to do what we can for the breed.

Two of the UK’s iconic native sheep breeds – the Manx Loaghtan and the Leicester Longwool breeds – are moved to the most urgent ‘Priority’ category in the new Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST) Watchlist published today.

RBST works to promote and conserve the UK’s native breeds of livestock and equines. The RBST Watchlist is the charity’s annual situation report for these breeds, reflecting robust measures of the genetic diversity within each breed as well as analysis of registration data. The survival of the UK’s rare native breeds is important for sustainable farming, regenerative land management, biodiversity, food chain resilience and genetic diversity; as well as these breeds’ immense cultural and heritage value.

Spring has well and truly sprung here at White House Farm and this year is all about babies! We’ve got a couple of Lincoln Longwool lambs already and more on the way, Tess the resident GoldenDoodle has had a gorgeous litter of 5 puppies and, coming soon…..goats will be joining us! Having been bred by a friend of ours, 4 wee Pygmy girls will take up residence in the paddock behind The Barn shortly!
