🐟 Silver Darlings are back on our specials menu for the summer. 🐟

Every year when we serve this traditional dish, I think of the remarkable Herring Girls who followed the fishing fleets around the British coast. Working long hours in all weathers, they were highly skilled in gutting, salting and packing the famous “Silver Darlings” that helped feed a nation.

Today, our Herring in Hamlyns Oatmeal, served with new potatoes and crisp salad leaves, is a small tribute to those hardworking women and Scotland’s rich fishing heritage.

A true taste of the coast, with a story on every plate. ❤️
