We’re Michaela and Alex Watson, the founders of Maud’s Meadow Retreats. Our journey to creating this retreat space began with our own search for balance, connection, and a deeper relationship with nature. A few years ago, we set out on a wilderness camping trip through Scotland, immersing ourselves in its untamed beauty—waking up to misty forests, hiking through vast, open landscapes, and feeling
the quiet power of the natural world. That experience was transformational. It made us realize how essential it is to step away from daily distractions and reconnect with ourselves—physically, mentally, and creatively. Scotland captured our hearts, and we knew we wanted to create a space where others could experience that same sense of renewal.In our own lives, we’ve always sought a balance between the different parts of ourselves—the intellectual, the creative, the physical, and the emotional. Whether it was through mindfulness, movement, artistic expression, or time in nature, we found that true well-being isn’t about focusing on just one aspect—it’s about bringing everything into harmony. This belief became the foundation of Maud’s Meadow, a retreat space designed to nurture the whole self. We’ve created an environment where you can reconnect with nature, challenge yourself, and find joy in simple, grounding experiences—whether that’s through yoga in the fresh morning air, foraging for wild ingredients, or experiencing the invigorating rush of cold-water immersion. We believe wellness should be accessible and personal, which is why we offer experiences that can be tailored to each guest, allowing you to find the balance that works for you.
