The Orionid meteor shower peaks around 21st October. The tiny particles creating those streaks of light are debris left behind by Halley’s comet. Every year, Earth passes through this debris trail, and some particles enter our atmosphere at incredible speed and burn up… creating the meteors we see.

So when you see a meteor, you’re seeing tiny pieces of one of the most famous comets in history.

Book your warm cabin and stay up late with us to try and see one.

It’s called the Northern Taurids ✨

They are not famous for producing huge numbers of meteors, but taurid meteors can be slow & bright, and the shower is worth knowing about. It’s a good reminder that meteor watching isn’t only about the big headline showers - sometimes the sky rewards patience.
