A different view over Great House Farm

Max Newman flew over the area at sunset last night, giving the most incredible Birds Eye view over the Wye Valley and Great House Farm.

It’s amazing to see the area from above and appreciate just how beautiful our little corner of Mid Wales is.

With the rolling hills, fields, pods and spectacular countryside all coming together, we think these images are pretty special.

We’ve had a particularly challenging week on the farm.

…but then, just when you need a little lift, something lovely arrives through the post….

A beautiful thank you card from our recent guests who stayed with us for their wedding in Hay on Wye, and it honestly means so much to us.

It’s easy to focus on the things that go wrong, the long days and the challenges, but receiving a thoughtful message from guests reminds us exactly why we do what we do.

Here’s to a better week ahead, plenty of happy guests and continuing to make Great House Farm a special place to stay.

Further to the National alert - fire pits and bbq's are not allowed on site with immediate effect.

We would like to thank Laurie for this lovely review of his families stay at Old Great House.

Over the last few months we have had a large number of neuro divergent children staying with us, who have benefitted greatly from the peace, being in open spaces and meeting our farm animals.

Laurie has suggested that we should be promoting this to families as he says there are very few places that are so accommodating to families and children with additional needs - we don't see the additional need, we see the child/children and the family just making memories together in our accommodations.

"We had an absolutely fantastic stay as a family of 8, 6 adults and 2 children. The barn is lovely, spacious, well-equipped and really homely. It had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay, with beautiful, picturesque views all around and a gorgeous garden.

The hosts, Lynne and her family, were so lovely and welcoming, and everyone we met on the farm was incredibly friendly. Lynne was also incredibly accommodating with our little boy, who is autistic and non-verbal. This is always something we worry about when going away, but he settled straight away and absolutely loved his holiday, which meant so much to us.

The farm itself is beautiful, and the hot tub was a fantastic bonus and the perfect way to relax. The animals were another massive highlight, especially for our boys. They loved seeing the cows, goats, sheep and donkeys every day!

All round, it was a fantastic stay in a beautiful setting with wonderful hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend" Laurie

- 16th to 19th (now booked) and 24th and 25th Chwefru pod - sleeps 2 plus sofa bed

Royal Welsh Show 2026 is over - didn’t it go quickly?

It was lovely to welcome mostly returning guests and some new faces to the Show.

We are just 10 minutes from the Showground, which makes us the perfect place to stay - come back from a busy day to wonderful scenery, a hot tub and bbq.

We look forward to seeing you all again next year - we have just one pod left for RWAS 2027 (minimum 4 night stay) and limited availability for 2028 - we still have availability for other events on the Showground including the Winter Fair.

It’s the middle of the month already - where has July gone?

We have had a very busy month at Great House Farm - thanks to everyone who has stayed with us - we have opened the odd one night stays but this is all we have this month - book at www.greathousefarm.co.uk - very limited August availability - If you're still thinking about a summer escape, there's still time to book your luxury glamping or self-catering getaway.

We have had more changeovers today and we have welcomed new guests to our Chwefru and Severn pods.
