A few examples created from my most recent travel and sourcing trip.

The process ~ Many hundreds of hours spent sorting through many hundreds of vintage kantha textile. Selecting only the pieces that speak to me.

It’s common that out of five hundred pieces I will only pull out twenty pieces that I’m happy with. I work slowly with focus and consideration. Inspecting carefully for that ‘hidden’ detail that can easily be missed but for me can change everything. A special Find!

Some pieces stay whole. They have to. Respecting the heritage and integrity of the craftsmanship. Other pieces are re~imagined into new life. The weight, colour, texture and pattern informing the designs. Including this season, a few more styles for men.

Many of our jackets are made to be fully reversible... So if your vibe changes so can your coat.

Always handmade. Always small batch.

After a fairly long time absent from the bricks and mortar part of the business, and now four days back, the space is beginning to look and feel like a part of me again.
Splicing~in a few new finds, integrating new pieces, weaving new threads into the existing story is pretty much how it feels to bring my two very different worlds together. The plan was to return from India a wee bit earlier allowing for some time to ‘land’. But two cancelled flights, a new ticket and multiple rescheduling later, has left very little time, if any, to readjust ~ Straight back into it all!

So, thank you to everyone for popping by and especially to all the lovely familiar faces who’ve popped in to say hello ~ it’s really helped me to ground and feel back at home!

Lots more gorgeous stuff to come over the coming weeks which I can’t wait to share with you. X

Today is a play day. A rest day. And an opportunity to unpack some of the fabrics I’ve collected over the last couple of weeks - I’m super happy with the choices!!
It’s a time consuming part of the process selecting prints and textures that speak not only to me but to one another. A calm collected but lively discussion! Creating a cohesive paint palette from which to work from. Cool contemporary block prints alongside traditional heritage weaves. Cotton, linen, velvet, silks …. So worth every bump, bruise and sleepless nights on the road and rail ~ Exhausting but utterly rewarding!

Next comes the responsibility ( and joy!) of creating pieces that I hope will do them justice. Unique clothing and decor imbued with travel and textile stories. Can’t wait to see how they unfold and take shape!

Already we’re a full week into a New Year!

A huge heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make 2025 such a memorable year. It was full to the brim with action , connection and surprises of the best kind. ♥️

Who knew I would have find myself with a shop in Burnham Market ~ it’s been magic! . Let’s keep creating those good feelings. Rolling them on through 2026 and well into the future.

Very soon, it will be time for another sourcing adventure!
These journeys are where inspiration and freedom flow ~ essential to the magic of Mela.
Excited by the pull of the unknown! Travelling to new places on a mission for some special textiles that have caught my eye.
I’ll return with new Finds and Designs ready to share with you all in early Spring as the new shoots appear and life stirs again, this is where the New Year truly begins 🌱

Dear Friends…

It’s been three weeks since my seasonal Pop~Up store in Burnham Market and I must say that I’ve been really missing it! Especially the in person interactions and connection.

By way of introducing a newsletter I hope to foster a new channel of communication and connection during those periods of time when I don’t have a physical shop in which to welcome you ~ a new space and new way
(for me) to share.

The first newsletter will be released on Saturday 1st November. Eeek!

Very exciting developments here at M•F and it’s all happened very suddenly!

Lots of preparation and organising underway to get the third Mela Finds pop-up store ready to welcome you all through the door in beautiful Burnham Market, North Norfolk this summer.

I can’t wait to share with you all the new gorgeous treasures I have sourced and gathered over two months in India earlier this year - some very special rare, exquisite textiles that fill my heart and blow my mind!

This year I have worked on designing more clothing than previous years…It wasn’t my plan to, but have been inspired by the beautiful textiles that I am so passionate about. There’s even a few garments for the men this year!

You can also expect to see more adornment in the form of old silver tribal and beautiful gemstone and gold jewellery made today in time~honoured heritage design and craftsmanship. All in all this will be an exciting Pop~Up full of stories and wonder…

I look forward to welcoming you very soon!!

PRINCE ~ The eldest grandson of a family I’ve known for more than 30 yrs.
Quickly captured before he dashes back off into town again with his younger brother Anuj to join in with the revelry of colour!!
I can hear the cheers , throbbing beats of music . The air thick with the full power energy generated by a thousand souls celebrating together throwing explosions coloured powders!

Holi is a Hindu festival celebrating the arrival of spring, love, and the victory of good over evil.

Amen to that!
