A delightful semi-detached chalet bungalow situated in a quiet cul-de-sac, a few minutes’ walk from the beach, park and high street, in the Somerset seaside town of Burnham-on-Sea. This lovely holiday home is an ideal base for couples, families and friends to enjoy the area with many activities and attractions close by. This is also a perfect retreat for birdwatchers, dog walkers and nature lovers

with a river estuary walk and park minutes from the house, and Bridgwater Bay National Nature Reserve and the Avalon marshes on the Somerset Levels close by. The owner Joy, a keen amateur wildlife and nature photographer, offers guided nature walks out across the moors at an additional cost. The accommodation and amenities:
Mostly ground floor. Two bedrooms: 1 x first floor double with TV and basin, ground floor 1 x king-size double. Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. Kitchen with breakfast bar. Dining room. Sitting room with gas fire. Gas central heating with gas fire

I often suggest to my guests to visit the Avalon Marshes nature reserves out on the Somerset Levels. They're only a short drive from our holiday home and from mid November through to late February a very special experience can be had. The Starling murmurations build in number through the winter months and is a joy to behold. 🙂

Did you know?
The common name, Dunlin, comes from this birds' habit of nesting in upland moors and bogs: 'dun' is an old Gaelic word for hill and 'linne' means pool or pond..just saying!
Two years ago I filmed a flock of Dunlin down on the Huntspill seawall. It was a beautiful calm day, with an 11.3m High tide and they were foraging on the saltings amongst the Samphire..'twaz rather lovely 🙂
