Record number of Beacons Way walkers & runners through our doors this week. Some with advance bookings and others making same day bookings (luckily we weren't totally booked up). Comfy bed, shower, food (pub/delivery/own supplies/tuck shop), map checks, laundry, rest before the next leg. We have it all covered!

New at The Star Bunkhouse: a washing machine for guests who need to freshen up their kit after a few days on the trail.

If you are walking the Beacons Way, it is one less thing to worry about before the next day’s miles. Washing machine tokens and Ecover laundry capsules are available from Reception.

A small practical extra, but hopefully a very welcome one when the walking socks are telling their own story!

The pizza van over the road at the The New Inn, Bwlch is a nice bonus when it appears. It is an occasional visitor so it always feels like a bit of a treat when it is there. Back this week, Thursday (23rd July)! Orders at the trailer welcome.

Four small things we're grateful for this week.

A surprise book, quietly left behind by a guest for others to enjoy.

A fancy bow on a toilet roll from one of our lovely cleaners, because the little touches matter.

The view from one of our favourite walks around Buckland Hill.

Our growing collection of old walking boots, left by guests and now overflowing with flowers outside.

Sometimes it's the small things that make this place feel so special!

"Mountain Rambles"

We had an email a few months ago to let us know that our episode - featuring a walk we designed starting from our doorstep (route card available) - is going to feature on the new series of "Best of Weatherman Walking". It was filmed in the early days of us taking over The Star Bunkhouse, and we have stayed friends with the lovely ever since! A new email today confirms the transmission date. Looking forward to rewatching on Friday 31st July 2026.
