The Bwlch With Altitude Challenge returns on Saturday 6th June 2026, taking walkers through some of the spectacular scenery around Llangorse and Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.

Expect rolling hills, peaceful tracks, rewarding climbs and views that make every step worthwhile.

Whether you’re walking for the challenge, the atmosphere or simply the excuse to spend a day outdoors, this is one to add to your summer plans.

Some cool things coming up for the weekend 5-7 June 2026. We have also heard that there is a Midnight Marathon taking place, and the Big Hike for .

You could maybe get a late entry and stay at The Star Bunkhouse. We have had a cancellation, so plenty of private bedrooms available. Online booking available!

We took some time out last Saturday (we had a lovely hiking group staying who'd booked exclusive hire) to take part in this amazing challenge. We successfully completed Route A 49km. We highly recommend this very well organised and friendly event... it was a proper test of our running/fitness 💪 Diolch yn fawr Longtown Mountain Rescue Team! (p.s. your recently swapped charity tin in our Reception is starting to fill up nicely again... including donations from sales of the Independent Hostel Guide 2026)

Bwlch with Altitude is back on Saturday 6th June 2026.

Our popular challenge is returning this summer with big views, a waymarked route and friendly village welcome in Bwlch. It is a team challenge walk with quiz questions along the way, taking in some of the best scenery around Llangorse and Bwlch.
