Autumn sunshine, happy dogs and a walk along the canal to Llangynidr Locks 🍂 🐾

It was lovely to see so many walkers and cyclists out enjoying the day, with plenty of smiles, boots and bikes passing by.

We finished with a coffee at Depot 65 Canalside Emporium - beside the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal - where the volunteer lock-keepers were on hand too.

A simple, very good day out in Bannau Brycheiniog.

Congratulations, Derek the Weather, on an incredible 30 years with BBC Wales.

You have brought the weather, walks and wonderful corners of Wales into so many homes, and it was a real pleasure to welcome you to Bwlch and the bunkhouse during the filming of Weatherman Walking.

Thank you for inviting Emma to appear on your programme too. We are proud to call you our friend, and a friend of the bunkhouse (we are are thinking of renaming Room 1, Derek's Room!), the pub and the village.

A short visit to nearby Talybont-on-Usk this morning. A lovely village and farming community with general stores, café, pubs, canal, etc. with access to both the hills and low-level adventures. Lots of cyclists, mountain bikers and dog walkers like me out today. It's beginning to feel a lot like Autumn 🍁 Now enjoying a cup of tea in my favourite mug Herdy UK

So lucky to have a lovely hill with tumbledown dry stone walls on the edge of our village. A lovely afternoon spent with a small team of volunteers led by a master dry stone waller. Thankful for an exclusive hire booking at The Star Bunkhouse so that I can get out and play.
