Anglesey will not introduce visitor levy at present

Anglesey will not introduce a visitor levy at present given the challenges already facing its tourism industry.

A report presented to the Full Council earlier today (Thursday, 24 September) highlighted the pressures facing the tourism sector, together with the findings of an Economic Impact Assessment and a recent public consultation.

The Great Breakwater at Holyhead - Morglawdd Caergybi

Officially opened on 19 August 1873 by Albert Edward, Prince of Wales accompanied by great celebrations.

Stretching out into the Irish Sea, it’s the longest in the UK at 1.7 miles (2.7 km) & a unique route to walk , a popular fishing location and vantage point to watch shipping of all sizes.

It’s the town’s vital sea defence, providing essential coastal protection for the waterfront buildings & facilities around Holyhead’s port , harbour and also as a refuge to shipping - from pleasure craft to ferries and cruise ships.
