We were due to reopen on 1st May, but we’re now delighted to confirm we will be travelling to the summit from Saturday 25th April.

We can’t wait to welcome you back to the very top of Wales for those incredible summit views!

A huge thank you goes to our incredible Engineering and Permanent Way teams, who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to recommission Hafod Eryri and prepare the line for full summit operations once again, making this early reopening possible.

The Pen y Pass road (A4086) is a famously scenic and rugged mountain pass in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, North Wales. Reaching an elevation of 359 metres (1,180 ft), it serves as the primary gateway for several major walking routes to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon).

The Sherpa’r Wyddfa bus network (particularly the S1 and S5 routes) provides frequent, year-round connections from nearby villages like Llanberis and Nant Peris. A Park & Ride facility is located at Nant Peris for those who cannot secure a spot at the summit.

The road around Pen y Pass is a clearway. Parking or stopping on the roadside is illegal and frequently results in vehicles being towed.

Our £595.00 7-night stay in Gatekeepers Cottage offer is available for remaining dates in 2026. This beautiful cottage is located just outside of Caernarfon, 5 minutes from the castle, 20 minutes to Anglesey/Ynys Mon and 18 minutes to Llanberis and Snowdon/ Yr Wyddfa. The cottage is located at the entrance to Plas Dinas Country House, the former home of Lord Snowdon.

The booking channel is set for Saturday arrival for a 7-night stay with a selection of Welsh goodies waiting for you on arrival.

We require a £100 non-refundable deposit to secure with the final balance payable 14 days prior to arrival.

It is dog friendly with two small/medium dogs welcomed at no extra charge or one large dog. It a two bedroom that sleeps up to 4 with one room being able to be made up as a twin should you require.

There is so much to see and do in the area with a multi-award-winning restaurant on your doorstep that serves afternoon tea and hybrid taster menu as featured on Great British Menu and winner of Best Hotel in Wales 2026 by The Good Hotel Guide.

South Stack Lighthouse was built by Trinity House in 1809, marking a tiny islet off Anglesey at the north west tip of Wales.

The historic South Stack Lighthouse is located on a small island reached via a descent of 400 steps down the steep mainland cliffs.

Visitors may tour the former lighthouse engine room before climbing to the top of the lighthouse. South Stack is a wonderful place to watch thousands of breeding seabirds including guillemots, razorbills and puffins.

Please note minimum height restriction of 1.1 metres tall to climb the tower. One of the most spectacular and exciting locations on Anglesey. Watch the sea birds at close quarters and learn about the history of the lighthouse.

If you visit us here in North Wales, you will be located just 7 minutes by car to Caernarfon Castle from our cottages in Foryd Bay. It is a spectacular sight within the town and it is surrounded by some incredible independent businesses.
