Volunteers Wanted!!!!

Have you always wanted to volunteer?
Would you like to spend a day in the sun (🤞) meeting like minded people?
Do you want to learn new practical skills?

If so, The Big Help Out is for you!!!

YHA Pen y Pass are looking for volunteers for 1 day to help us maintain our outside furniture. No prior experience is required, and tea and coffee will be provided.

Right now on the mountain it’s real winter conditions.

💨 35 mph wind with gusts of 45-50mph

☁️ cloud base at 250m (no inversions)

❄️ Snow & Ice from 350m

🧊 Temps at -4 but feels like -14

Please leave the crocs, carrier bags, boom boxes and silly attitudes at home and ask yourself before

🧭 Do I have the knowledge & skills to navigate in full winter conditions

🪓 Do I have the correct equipment and do I know how to use it?

🧤Can I stay warm & safe should I require a rescue which could take several hours.

Remember there is no shame in ever turning back. The mountain is not going anywhere.

we got a lovely surprise today and it started showing at Pen y Pass.

the snow on the mountain is nice and deep the summit is full of ice and snow.

please aak yourself-

⛏️do i have the equipment and knowledge of how to use it to make a winter ascent.

🧤 Have i got enough warm clothing and can i stay warm if im forced to wait

🧭 Do i know my route and can i navigate in a white out

Before you get to excited the free parking was in 1938!

Here’s a stunning picture showing the old car park over the road. The building no longer exists and is replaced by the new warden building.

Crib Coch hasn’t changed all that much.
