Visit Treshnish A warm welcome awaits guests in our unique eco-cottages and shepherd's hut on a special island farm The farm is managed to protect and enhance biodiversity.

Our 8 unique eco-friendly farm cottages are located on a beautiful and dramatic peninsula not far from Calgary Beach, on the Isle of Mull, often described as the wildlife capital of the UK. We are open all year round. The cottages sleep between 2 and 6. Small scale renewables and masses of insulation help reduce our carbon footprint - wind & solar power, biomass boiler. We are proud to hold a Green Tourism Business Scheme Gold Award.

Yesterday sadly we said goodbye to Walter.

In October 2013 he jumped out of the back of a pickup, a larger than life 10 month old Beardie, and although we weren’t looking for another dog, when we heard he was looking for a farming home, we just had to give him one. We are hugely grateful to the farmer who gave him to us.

Walter was an absolutely wonderful dog. The most gentle. The most unique. A free spirit. Totally devoted to Somerset and the best lambing assistant. He is now buried in the black park, one of his favourite vole hunting spots.

Rest in peace dear Walter.

Suddenly got some time off?

We’ve got a couple of spaces in West Cottage over the next month if you are looking for a lovely cosy autumn break. The landscape is shedding its summer mantle and the days are getting shorter. Perfect for evenings by the wood burner. And West now has WiFi. Get in touch if you fancy a last minute holiday in West at winter prices!

Rally users of Calgary
Please can we ask that if you are staying at the wild camping site at Calgary this year you respect it and the staff that help to run it. Friends of Calgary Bay is part of Mull and Iona Community Trust, a local charity,helping look after the Machair, the beach, the camping area and the toilets. Your donations means that the toilets can stay open all year and are cleaned regularly. Your donations are important and used 100% to look after the Bay Area and the toilets. It is not a free for all and to be abused as happened last year. Thank you for your support, please donate if you use the facilities and enjoy the rally.

In spite of a dodgy weather forecast we had the best day at the Bunessan Show. It tried to rain but didn’t really succeed.

Somerset took his home bred Herdwick Shearling (son of a James Rebanks tup), Biffa. Biffa was in the ring against Texels and Cheviots so we were delighted when he got a Second!

Not so lucky with our basket of organic produce, but competition is very high at Bunessan and whilst our basket was brimming over with Cardoons, Poppies, Gladioli, Swiss chard, Rhubarb, our first Runner beans, Cauliflower, Radishes and handfuls of fresh herbs, it did look a little scruffy!

There was wonderful food on offer and delicious Mull roasted coffee.

If you are on the island next week the is on Thursday 13th August and promises to be just as enjoyable a day! Somerset will be there with Biffa too.
