This Halloween, the masks come out for The Masquerade Monster’s Ball. Expect a little mystery, plenty of reason to dress up, three-course dining and a dance floor waiting after dark.

Masquerade glamour or something more monstrous? Both are welcome, with prizes for Best Masque and Best Costume on the night.

Autumn has a way of revealing the connections and experiences across Bowood.

As the colours begin to change across the Estate, the season is shaping far more than the view. In the gardens, produce ripens and plants are prepared for winter. Across the golf course, greenkeepers continue their work behind-the-scenes, while in the kitchen, autumn ingredients and flavours begin to take their place on the menu.

At Bowood House & Gardens, the season brings its own sense of discovery, from the Arboretum, Parkland and Gardens to family days filled with autumn adventures. Elsewhere, the same landscape becomes the backdrop to a hotel stay, time at The Spa at Bowood, dinner in the Shelburne Restaurant or a round of golf.

For some, Bowood is a place of history and gardens. For others, it is a stay, a meal, a family day out or a favourite view across the Estate.

However you know Bowood, autumn has a way of showing you another side of it.

Boerewors, Sosaties, Bobotie and Malva Pudding are all on the menu at the next Bowood Social this September. 🔥

Our next Bowood Social takes inspiration from the flavours of a South African braai, with flame-grilled Peri-Peri Chicken, traditional favourites and plenty to discover around the table.

There’ll be a Rooibos cocktail or mocktail waiting on arrival, live music throughout the evening and the grills doing what they do best.

Simple, seasonal and picked close to the kitchen, they add freshness, colour and texture to the plate, while keeping the story rooted in the Estate.

A zero mile story, told through the ingredients that quietly complete the dish.

Every detail of the renewed Bowood Afternoon Tea was chosen with purpose, including the tea itself.

Here, we share the story behind our partnership with Tregothnan, Britain’s first homegrown tea producer, and why provenance, craftsmanship and a shared sense of heritage became such an important part of the renewed experience.

For us, the partnership was never simply about serving tea. It was about finding something that felt genuinely connected to the story we wanted Bowood Afternoon Tea to tell.
