We are proud to sponsor the Contemporary Kent Artists (CKA) exhibition series in Whitstable for a second year 🖌️🎨

The exhibition, featuring original pieces from Kent creatives based around the theme of ‘We Are Our Memory’, will run from Thursday, October 8 to Sunday, October 18.

This year, the open call allows artists from all backgrounds and mediums to enter their pieces for the exhibition. Submissions are open until Saturday, June 20.

The finalists will have their artwork displayed at the The Horsebridge Arts Centre in Whitstable this October, and there will also be a series of live events around the town, including music, poetry, theatre, artist talks and art showcases.

Artist Shringi Kumari, who received first prize last year, is also currently showing a collection of her original pieces at Duke of Cumberland in Whitstable until the end of July. On Thursday, June 18, Shringi will be hosting an artist talk at the pub from 6.30pm.

We are pleased to announce that Shepherd Neame has secured a major new partnership with LTA - Tennis For Britain (Lawn Tennis Association), becoming the organisation’s Official Beer Partner for the first time as part of a new three-year agreement.

The partnership will see Shepherd Neame become the Official Beer Supplier to some of the UK’s leading grass court tennis events, including the HSBC Championship at The Queen’s Club in London – which is on now - the Lexus Eastbourne Open and the Lexus Nottingham Open.

Premium Thai lager Singha - brewed and distributed in the UK by Shepherd Neame under licence - will be served on draught as the Official Beer across the tournaments.

Crafted to meet growing consumer demand for high-quality no and low alcohol options, while staying true to the brand’s distinctive coastal character, it is available in 500ml bottles, and combines four varieties of hops – Challenger, Jester, Mosaic and Amarillo – to create vibrant citrus notes and a crisp, refreshing finish.

Today we can reveal the winning images from our Spring Photography Competition – and we think they’re fabulous!

We were inundated with entries after launching our search in January.

The top prize of a £150 Shepherd Neame gift card went to Mark Ford, from Herne Bay, who snapped a stunning shot of a blackbird in Godmersham.

Mark only took up photography five years ago. He snapped the winning picture from a hide in Godmersham.

Four runners-up each received a £25 Shepherd Neame gift card and certificate. They were: Sarah McBride for her image of a busy bee, which was taken in a field on the side of the A251 near Badlesmere; Darryn Jenner for his picture of a nuthatch taken near Canterbury; Alan Smithers for capturing a Highland Cattle in Barming on the banks of the River Medway, and Jim Higham for his image of young hares - known as leverets – taken at Elmley National Nature Reserve on the Isle of Sheppey.

The winning images will be on show in our Brewery reception in Court Street, Faversham from Friday, June 5, during normal office hours for a month. 🎉📷

Our sports bar Sin Bin at Chatham Maritime got a big thumbs up at the weekend when influencer Big John was the special guest at a night of fundraising for Soccer Aid.

Big John gave the menu including a kilo of wings and pizzas his seal of approval, and he also poured a pint from one of the recently introduced Beer Towers, under the watchful eye of General Manager Rachel Webb.

Customers can order them with Sin Bin Dockside Lager or Stella Artois.

There was also a Soccer Air raffle and a meet and greet with Big John.

Shepherd Neame was proud to be among the sponsors for the Rotary Charity Dragon Boat Challenge in Chatham Maritime for the first time – and a team from our nearby pub, The Ship & Trades, also took part.

The team joined 35 others for the challenge, sporting Iron Wharf t-shirts for their first foray into racing. They also raised almost £20,000 for a series of charities through raffles and other fundraising activities in the lead-up to the event.

Held on the waterfront next to the pub, the challenge coincided with the Medway Food and Drink Festival.

General Manager Chris Abnett said: “The team had a great time and we had the support of regulars and our fellow team members from The Millers Arms and The The Royal Hotel.

“We look forward to next year and hope to beat 16th place!”

The race itself, which is organised by the Medway Sunlight Rotary Club, raises funds for a variety of Rotary charities and has raised more than £100,000 over the past 10 years.

Bill Parkinson from the club said: “The day went really well – a very hot day, but no-one capsized!

“We do not have a final figure for our fundraising yet, but it is not all about fundraising – we are supporting the local community, letting people see what Rotary is about and above all having fun – and I think that we achieved all of those in abundance!”

We are cheering on The Wharf Pub Supervisor Michaela Hill as she prepares to represent England in the FIFG FootGolf World Championship in Acapulco, Mexico, this week 🏆

Michaela, who has worked at The Wharf since 2024, is currently ranked among the top three players on the England FootGolf Tour. She recently helped the England squad secure victory at the Four Nations tournament in Wales and competed in the Jansen Cup in 2022 in Florida.

For those unfamiliar with the sport, FootGolf combines the rules and format of golf with football. In Michaela's words: “It’s basically golf, but you kick a football and the holes are bigger!”

Michaela will be competing against players from all over the world in the Individual category while in Mexico. We wish her the best of luck for the tournament! 🤞

We held our annual Pub Awards last week with hundreds from across London and the South East gathering to celebrate exceptional achievements in our estate of 286 pubs.

With a total of 16 awards presented, The Spitfire at Kings Hill took the top spot, being named Pub of the Year.

Other awards included Tenanted Pub of the Year which went to The Coastguard in St Margaret’s Bay and Managed Business of the Year going to The Duke of Wellington in Belgravia.

Best Accommodation Offer went to The Woolpack Inn Chilham, with Best Wine Offer being collected by The Sportsman and Best Beer Offer going to The Mackland Arms in Rainham.

The Heart of the Community Award was presented to Tim and Lacey Stowell of The Market Inn, Faversham for a series of community fundraising efforts while individual awards also went to Josh Lane of The George Hotel, who won Apprentice of the Year and Aura Bodian of The White Horse & Bower who received New Manager of the Year.

Our Chief Executive, Jonathan Neame, said: "“These awards are a great opportunity to recognise and thank our team members and licensees for their incredible dedication and hard work in delivering exceptional experiences for our customers. Their commitment to their communities is at the heart of everything we do.”
