PRESS RELEASE: Llys-y-frân Lake unveils Wales’s largest inflatable Aqua Park for summer 2026!
--
Forget the local swimming pool and coast! Make the biggest splash in Pembrokeshire this summer at Llys-y-frân Lake, where a gigantic inflatable adventure park is set to welcome thrill-seekers.

From heart-stopping launch towers to gravity-defying 'blast bags,' Llys-y-frân Lake is officially the adrenaline capital of summer. Visitors will get a full hour of high energy fun for £25 per person with all safety gear included.

Situated to the north of Haverfordwest, in the foothills of the Preseli Mountains, Llys-y-frân Lake continues to build on its reputation as one of West Wales’s premier outdoor hubs. Set within 350 acres of picturesque woodland, grassland and open water, the site benefited from significant investment in 2021, with the opening of a visitor centre and activity centre, followed by the addition of a four-star campsite in 2023.

Dŵr Cymru finalised the acquisition of the Aqua Park from Aqua Parks Group in March and have since been preparing the park to ensure it is ready to welcome visitors. The park’s multi-component course of slides, launchpads and towers is currently being inflated and anchored in the lake.

The Aqua Park is set to open to visitors on weekends ahead of the six-week school holiday period. Once the school holidays commence, the park will be open daily, with the season concluding in early September.

James Thompson, Head of Visitor Attractions at Dŵr Cymru, said: “We are thrilled to announce the launch of an Aqua Park at Llys-y-frân Lake. We look forward to welcoming both holidaymakers and local residents from across West Wales and beyond to experience the Aqua Park. This new addition enables visitors to enjoy the water in a safe, fully lifeguarded environment.”

Dŵr Cymru has conducted a thorough assessment to confirm the suitability of the site, with environmental survey results indicating that the Aqua Park is unlikely to have a negative impact on local wildlife. Measures are being implemented based on the survey recommendations to safeguard the environmental integrity of the lake, ensuring the natural habitats and species within Llys-y-frân Lake remain protected.

Recent inland bathing water assessment has confirmed that Llys-y-frân Lake boasts excellent water quality. Throughout the summer bathing season, the lake will undergo stringent water quality monitoring, with comprehensive measures implemented to ensure ongoing safety.

Local residents and visitors are warmly welcomed to attend a community open day at Llys-y-frân Visitor Centre on Sunday 17 May, from 11am to 3pm. During the event, detailed plans for the Aqua Park, along with additional information, will be on display. Staff members will be available throughout the day to answer questions and discuss the project.

The introduction of the Aqua Park marks a vibrant addition to the activities already available at Llys-y-frân Lake. Visitors can enjoy bike hire, scenic walking and cycling trails, as well as dedicated mountain bike routes. The purpose-built pump track provides an opportunity for mountain bikers to hone their bike skills. Lakeside Café, open daily, serves breakfast, lunch, cakes and ice cream, while the gift shop showcases a selection of Welsh crafts and locally produced goods.

The countdown is on…Llys-y-frân Lake recommends visitors stay connected by following their official Facebook and Instagram pages, where updates regarding the opening date and the full summer schedule will be announced, including details of operating days and times throughout the summer school holidays.

🗺️🅿️Stop for a moment at this map in the 4CG Pwllhai car park and see an overview of our beautiful Aberteifi—a town forged by the relentless ebb and flow of the River Teifi. Here's a little bit more about our town!

🏰 In 1176, within the granite walls of Cardigan Castle, the very first Eisteddfod was held, which remains a hub of Welsh performance and poetry.

⚓️ By the 1800s, the quaysides were a "forest of masts" with over 300 vessels registered right here, shipping local slate and Pembrokeshire barley across the Irish Sea.

🧶 Our industry ran deep. From the famous local clay that fired the iconic Cardigan bricks to the rhythmic hum of the Teifi’s weaving mills, our craftsmanship was once the gold standard of Wales.
