A very special guestbook entry… but on paper! ✍️❤️

We were so touched when our lovely, and super talented, guests left us this beautiful hand-drawn picture of Blackberry Shepherds Hut today.

They’ve captured the whole scene, including the little boardwalk, the grasses, the entrance and, of course, Blackberry itself. 🌿

Thank you so much for such a wonderful memento. This is going straight into a frame to hang in the Hut! 🥰 💚

📖 WE FOUND OUR 1950s TRENEWYDD! 🎉

Well… we thought we had. 😂

A little while ago, a lovely lady called Gillian got in touch to tell us that her mother, Toni Whytehead, had written a study about Trenewydd Farm in the early 1950s as part of her teacher training. Gillian and her sister Heather wondered if we would like to have it.

Would we?! Absolutely! 🤩

We love a bit of Trenewydd history, and the thought of getting our hands on photographs of the farm from more than 70 years ago had us ridiculously excited. 📸🌾

Then the book arrived.

And honestly, it is **AMAZING**.

There are soil samples stuck inside. Dried wheat. Dried grass. 🌱😂

There are maps, photographs, rainfall records, temperature charts, graphs and all sorts of fascinating observations about farming life in the early 1950s.

We were poring over it, comparing the photographs with the farm today, trying to work out what was what…

And then came the moment.

You know that horrible feeling when you suddenly realise you've got something completely wrong?

Yep. That. 😳

This isn't our Trenewydd Farm.

It's Trenewydd Farm at Dinas Cross.🤦‍♀️😂

So after all the excitement of discovering this incredible piece of our supposed history, we have had to accept that we've been enthusiastically reading about someone else's farm.

We're genuinely a little sad it isn't ours, but we're also delighted that this wonderful piece of history has survived for more than 70 years. ❤️

So the pilgrimage begins…

🚗 We'll be taking this fantastic little time capsule over to the other Trenewydd, where hopefully they'll be just as thrilled to receive it and will treasure it for another 70 years.

And we're now keeping our fingers firmly crossed that somewhere, somehow, there is a dusty old 1950s study about OUR Trenewydd waiting to be discovered. 🤞📚

A huge thank you to Gillian and Heather for thinking of us and sending it our way. We may have got the wrong Trenewydd, but we've absolutely loved having a little peek into the past. ❤️

And if anyone happens to have an old photograph, document or story about Trenewydd Farm, Cardigan… we are VERY interested! 👀📸

💙 Spotted this fantastic handmade “Bluestone” celebrating Eisteddfod y Garreg Las 2026 – a lovely tribute to our local heritage.

Since the Eisteddfod opened on Saturday, Cardigan has been buzzing with visitors, music, culture and the Welsh language. It’s wonderful to see the town so full of life! 🎶🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳

“Y Garreg Las” means “The Blue Stone”, celebrating the world-famous Preseli Bluestones that were taken from our region over 4,000 years ago to become part of Stonehenge. The perfect name for an Eisteddfod in this special corner of Wales. 💙🪨

Here’s to a fantastic week celebrating Welsh culture, history and community. Croeso i Eisteddfod y Garreg Las! ✨🇬🇧🏰

St Dogmaels is looking wonderfully patriotic! ❤️🤍💚

With the National Eisteddfod taking place just up the road at Llantood, it's lovely to see homes throughout the village dressed in Welsh bunting and ready to welcome visitors from across Wales and beyond.

It feels especially fitting here, as St Dogmaels has such a special place in Welsh history. In 1176, Lord Rhys is believed to have held what is recognised as the first recorded Eisteddfod at nearby Cardigan Castle, inviting poets and musicians from across the land to compete for chairs and prizes. More than 850 years later, that tradition is still going strong.

If you're visiting Pembrokeshire over the coming week, you'll notice much more colour on the streets at the moment!

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Croeso i'r Eisteddfod!

🍻 No argument from us! 😍 We’ve definitely shared a few photos from here before… but can you blame us? 😄 Nothing beats a cold drink by the Teifi on a sunny day. ☀️🍺 So lucky to have this as our local! ❤️🌿
