A well deserved spotlight for Tullie 👏

Another great reason to visit Carlisle. From Roman history to brilliant exhibitions and family days out, Tullie continues to put our city on the map. Lovely to see it recognised as one of the top museums in the country. 🖤

Have you heard .... ?
Tullie shared some great news recently....

Tullie have been named as one of the nine best UK museums by The Times' chief art critic, Laura Freeman 🥳

To celebrate, we are sharing nine good reasons to come and visit Tullie:

1) We host world class exhibitions. Our art gallery is currently hosting not one but two exhibitions - A British Museum Partnership Exhibition: Gladiators of Britain and Uncovering Roman Carlisle: Where Worlds Met. They both close on 31 May so still time to see them if you are quick!

2) They have been open for a year, but our new Welcome Area and new Carlisle Gallery are still sparkling and ready to impress new visitors.

3) We have a pretty great shop with everything from Tullie gin to biscuit cushions.

4) Our café won 'Best Attraction Café' for Cumbria at England's Business Awards in April. We can confirm that all the food and drink is absolutely delicious, plus you can enjoy your coffee whilst gazing at collection artworks.

5) New acquisitions appear on display regularly. Head to Old Tullie House to admire new artworks.

6) We are a charity, every penny you spend at Tullie goes back into caring for our collections and running our community programmes.

7) Our gardens are a little pocket of calm in the city centre - you can come and sit for free, no ticket needed!

8) We have a jam packed programme of events throughout the year, including lots planned for May half term.

9) We run regular community groups and family events, including our very popular 'Little Explorers', perfect for engaging our littlest visitors - toddlers. Most of these events are included with an annual pass and U18s go free - how's that for value!

We can't wait to see you soon at 'one of the nine best UK museums' 👋 P.S. You can read the full article for some other museum trip inspiration here: https://www.thetimes.com/travel/destinations/uk-travel/our-chief-art-critics-nine-best-uk-museums-you-may-be-surprised-hhqmgpxk8

Some exciting news for Warwick Road 🍾🥂🍾

We’re really pleased to share that 48 Warwick Road has now been let to Matt from The Old Bank.

It’s great to see another independent hospitality business investing in the area and bringing more life to the street. We’re looking forward to seeing the space transformed and welcoming a new neighbour to Warwick Road.

Wishing Matt and the team every success with their next chapter 🍸🍽️

🚨 BIG NEWS 📰
‼️ HUGE NEWS 🗞️

From Matt at The Old Bank ❤️❤️

Sometimes in life I honestly sit and think… where on earth have the last 37 years gone?! It feels like 5 minutes ago I was a little 5-year-old running around my great grandma’s house with her tea cosy on my head, hosting tea parties and serving tea and cake like I owned the place ☕🍰😂
Looking back now, that was probably the very first sign that hospitality was always going to be my path — owning a restaurant was never just a dream, it was THE dream.

And then… 10 years ago… that dream became reality when The Old Bank was born ❤️
I never take for granted the sacrifices this industry takes. The long days, the missed family time, the exhaustion… but it’s also taught me exactly what hard work, passion and consistency can achieve (a word I never fully understood until I became my own boss!).

10 years in business is something I’m incredibly proud of — and despite the hard days (trust me, there’s been plenty 😅), I still genuinely LOVE what I do. Seeing customers happy, hearing your experiences, watching people make memories in a place we created… that’s the reward for me. It’s never been about money — it’s about passion.

BUT…
We’ve been keeping a MASSIVE secret 🤫
Something I honestly never thought I’d even consider… but life’s too short not to take opportunities when they come along!

So… from July 1st 2026 …The keys to 48 Warwick Road will officially be in my hands 🔑✨
And a brand new chapter begins…

Now before anyone panics — The Old Bank is going NOWHERE ❤️ I’ll still be there, still in the kitchen, still putting my whole heart into it every single day and plate.

But when an opportunity came up that was simply too good to say no to… we had to grab it with both hands 🙌
A huge thank you to Simon & Robin from The Halston for giving us this opportunity and welcoming us onto a street full of amazing businesses — many of whom we’re lucky enough to call friends.

Thank you to my family and friends who’ve had to listen to me go on and on and ON about this for months 😂

And the biggest thank you goes to my husband Matthew and my little boy ❤️You’re my world, my reason, and the people I do all of this for. None of this would be possible without you both.

Now then…

What are we doing with it?! 👀
Wellllll… you’ll have to wait a little longer for that one 😏

But I promise you this — we are ready to give it absolutely EVERYTHING and bring something to Carlisle that’s been missing for a long time.
Watch this space… 🚀
