As a travel agent myself, I’m quite particular about where I book. I compared lots of different lodges across the Lake District, North East and York, but Green Meadows Country Park stood out because of its location, stylish and spacious accommodation, private hot tub and peaceful setting.
The site is wonderfully quiet, making it perfect for relaxing and completely switching off, while still being close to everything you may need. M&S Foodhall, Morrisons and B&M are all within a 10-minute drive.
We enjoyed a lovely day at Pooley Bridge, around 40 minutes away, and also visited Keswick and Ambleside. These were approximately an hour and 15 minutes away, but the drive was beautiful and the views were incredible.
Our lodge was immaculate on arrival and maintained to an exceptionally high standard, as was the entire site. The main bedroom had a very comfortable bed and pillows, along with a fantastic walk-in wardrobe area offering plenty of space, hangers and storage for clothes and shoes. The en-suite bathroom hidden behind the sliding doors was a lovely surprise and beautifully designed, with an excellent shower. There was also a gorgeous vanity area with a mirror, which was perfect for getting ready.
The lodge had been very thoughtfully designed throughout. There was a useful storage cupboard near the entrance for coats and shoes, while the spacious kitchen had a dishwasher, plenty of cupboards and an immaculately clean fridge-freezer.
The outdoor area was one of my favourite parts. The sunken hot tub felt private, and the seating area was a beautiful place to watch the sunset while listening to the water fountain. I found it incredibly relaxing. Staff also came to check the hot tub after a couple of days, which was very reassuring and impressive.
We brought our dog and were particularly impressed by the large, secure dog-walking area, where dogs have plenty of safe space to enjoy.
We’ve had a fabulous week and made some wonderful family memories. My children are already asking when we can book again! I will definitely be returning.
