It can happen so quickly. We still have a campfire restriction in place and this shows why. Luckily, this wasn’t worse.

A major incident was narrowly avoided last night, after a disposable barbecue being used on the foreshore at Glen Beach set light to the neighbouring scrub on the edge of Rhode Wood, which along with the adjoining plantations, runs to over 100acres.

Fortunately, thanks to some alert members of the public on the beach who called the Fire Brigade, and a very prompt response by Firefighters from Tenby Fire Station who were able to bring the blaze under control, minimal damage was caused.

During the current dry conditions it is extremely irresponsible to be lighting any sort of fire or disposable barbecue in the countryside. We would appeal to local vendors of these items to restrict their sale until we have had some rain to reduce the fire risk.

We’re very excited to have our first guests arriving this week. The camp meadow is extremely dry with this beautiful sun we’re having. We’re following advice from other campsites and putting a stop to campfires until we get some rain. We’re very sorry to have to do this as we know how lovely it is to have a campfire but at least it’s nice and warm! 🙌 ☀️

🔥⚠️ The wildfire risk across our National Park is now VERY HIGH.

Conditions are exceptionally dry throughout the National Park. Just one spark can start a fire that spreads rapidly, threatening people, wildlife, habitats and some of our most precious landscapes.

If you are spending time outdoors:
🚫 Do not light any fires, including campfires
🚫 Do not use disposable or portable barbecues. Pack a picnic instead
🚫 Do not set off fireworks or release sky lanterns
🚭 Extinguish ci******es fully and never discard them on the ground
🗑️ Take all litter home with you
⛺ Camp only where you have permission

The risk is real. Please take exceptional care and do nothing that could start a fire.
If you see fire or smoke, call 999 immediately. 🔥📞

A quick hello from us!! Thank you so much for your support and patience during this tricky time for our family. Thankfully, I’ve now finished active treatment for breast cancer and am sooooo looking forward to welcoming the lovely families on site soon.

We’ve had an influx of bookings now we’re getting closer to the summer holidays and can’t thank you all enough. Admittedly, my admin hasn’t always been the best anyway and this year it is even slower, but I am hopefully now back on track and have responded to all queries and bookings. If you haven’t heard from us and are expecting to, please get in touch!

We’re operating on a smaller number of pitches this year to try to keep it calm behind the scenes so please, if you’re hoping to stay, we’re getting booked up so don’t delay booking!

Hello!!
A quick update from us at Horseshoe Camping. We are still here! Life is a bit slower since I’ve been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I’m currently going through chemotherapy which is due to finish mid April.

We can’t wait for then to start waking the campsite up ready for the summer holidays and get back to some sort of normality!!

Just a reminder that we will have a shorter season this year - mid July to early September. We’ve already had a number of bookings for the summer so if you’d like to stay, please make sure to book to avoid disappointment 🤩🤩 it will be wonderful to see you.

This year, we unfortunately won’t have the bell tent but we do have the tent and campervan pitches as normal!
