The Causeway is more than just a street; it’s a path through time. 🕰

In mediaeval Cartmel, this route was a vital lifeline. Originally a raised timber path, it was built to keep the Augustinian monks of the Priory dry and elevated above the damp, low-lying ground.

Today, that same path leads you to The Old Roller Shed and The Old Hay Shed. While the timber has long since been replaced by stone, the sense of connection remains. We’ve kept that spirit of sanctuary alive, offering a modern 5* escape on the very ground where the canons once walked.
